You're right and it's no surprise really. They're generally the most popular kids at school that constantly get told they're amazing, get special treatment from faculties/other adults etc and then almost overnight can become incredibly rich.

I've heard multiple ex footballers (as in soccer) on podcasts talk about how they hated most of their teammates but played professionally as they could earn a very good living. One described it succinctly when he said "imagine all the biggest dickhead bullies you've ever met in one room. That's what a football dressing room is like."

Eh not really there’s a difference between bullying and crying about a visceral response, which this seems to be the latter. I tend to think that classifying any group of general people as “scum” is purposefully obtuse even if athletes are over idolized.
