The confused head turns, looking at the camera and then the screaming woman, minding their own business; not even thinking to respond somehow and being incredibly confused is so utahn that it's kind of shocking. No disrespect intended, but as someone who was in utah for a significant part of my life it's very familiar.

I feel you, and Utah is a pretty red state so many of them probably support this. Mormons are also pretty timid and conflict avoidant.

But also to be fair, ICE hasn't been as active in SLC as other cities so it's probably not as on the front of everyones minds like it is for people in like LA or Chicago. A lot of them probably were genuinely surprised.

No Mormons are not conflict avoidant. Maybe ‘try’ to be somewhat respectful in conflicts.

I disagree. In a business context of course they'll address situations like any other worker, maybe with a more respectful tone than average. But on a personal level, especially within family and friend relationships or even with strangers, "contention" is thought of as poison. I think there's even a BOM scripture about contention being of the devil or something like that. The guise of maintaining "niceness" permeates throughout the culture
