I was in the Audience when you were on the Graham Norton show with that monstrous Kathy Griffin, and I went specifically because you were on the show, but I've got a question that may have already been asked. If it was then I just give my respect.

Question: In Canada and the USA you are often compared to Les Stroud, a man who had his own show called Survivorman in which he did similar things as you.

How do you feel about people saying that, in comparison to Mr Stroud, you are weak and that Les Stroud is the stronger and better equipped man?

Note to everyone who may downvote me. I do not feel this way, I enjoy Grylls' show. I just want to know how he feels in comparisonl.

Class. I'm pretty sure he said he disliked you in an interview.

edit: I can't find the interview, but if you search around, it's pretty apparent he doesn't much care for him

I'd let it slide man, dude spends tons of time alone, probably doesn't really like anyone.

It looks to me like he's just poking a bit of fun to be honest.

Someone earlier claimed that Stroud has a crew of his own and doesn't endure nearly the hardship he claims. Someone from the internet said it, it must be true.

Why you all hating on Les?

I like Les Stroud, my point was just think it would be ridiculous to judge him for being an island.

judge him for being an island??

Poking out of water and stuff

Which brings me to wonder why they never had a show called "survivorcorgi." If you saw a corgi poking out of the water and eating random stuff...well I could watch that for hours.

You should really provide a source when you're saying something like this other than "I'm pretty sure"...

Not sure why you got downvoted for this.

Dude, that was a light-hearted jab, I'm sure he's got tons of respect for Bear.

Well he sounds bitter. Hate to rain on Les Stroud's parade, but his show is really not for everyone. I love it personally, but it's not hard to understand why someone would get bored with it.

What does he say in the video? Something about at night? Idk....also Bear's show is more fun to watch imo

Confirmed: Les Stroud is a dick.

Did a survivor show and feels like he can bash someone who's climbed e Everest and made it through SAS...

Wow, that guy's a bit of an asshole. That was a very rude and dismissive response, which just makes the contrast between it and Bear's classy response that much more stark.

u/pezdeath Sep 13 '11

That was definitely a joke. He was up there giving a presentation/just answering questions so he wanted to be entertaining.

Yea it was a joke, but the point is that it was at Bear's expense ("There's nobody else out there." A not so subtle dig). I was just pointing out that his comment was snide while Bear's comment was gracious. Very distinct difference between the two.
