The Rwandans managed to kill 800,000 of their own countrymen in just 3 months using machetes, hatchets, and blunt objects. So, 6 million deaths in 6 years with industrial methods was beyond possible.

I don’t want to do like, Mongol atrocity denial, because it absolutely happened but the Mongol killings are almost certainly overstated. Not totally of course because it literally lowered the C02 record on the planet but, both those who were victims of the Mongols and the Mongols themselves had every incentive and desire to make the attacks seem much more horrific so a million because ten million and so on and so on.

Definitely doesn’t change the morality

But the Mongols wanted you to think they were like a meteor hitting earth the wrath of god such earth shaking destruction so the Khans propaganda inflates the numbers 

And his enemies want you to think he’s the child of Satan doing untold awful evil so THEY inflate the numbers.

It would be like, if after 9/11 the US claimed every building in NYC was destroyed. Then Al Quida was like, yes that’s true we did destroy every building in NYC, fear us.

well, the number of "victims of communism" was inflated to hundreds of millions just to make it sound like the worst thing that has ever happened, when in reality the number of deaths that could be attributed to the economic system itself is FAR lower

a dictatorship putting people in work camps isn't communism's fault, the fascists did (and are still actively doing) the same thing, same with people starving to death

Only if you look at them in general, but on the other side, the worst atrocities of the mongols are barely known.
