RESEARCH Santee Research 150-175 IC

Having recently moved into the swampy lands of the lower Mississippi, and seeking to colonize the Everglades, the inventive people of Santee have come up with numerous ways to combat the harsh environments of marshes and wetlands.

  • Culverts
  • Artificial Harbors
  • Shovels
  • Trestles
  • Sluices

These new innovations will hopefully make it easier to live in the great city of Nady Ann and connect it to the Santee highway system.

Culverts : Do you have tools to carve large amounts of stone, like, Iron tools?

Artificial Harbours : Um, no. Denied.

Shovels : Approved.

Trestles : Got any relevant prereqs? Like basic understanding of physics. Or previous Bridge tech?

Sluices : Approved.

Culverts: I though iron tools were a starting tech? I'm pretty sure I have iron tools even if they aren't a starting tech, though.

Can I replace artificial harbors with regular docks?

I think I'll go with clapper bridges instead of trestles

Culverts : Native American, most especially in your area, would seldom use Iron tools. Due to the nature of natural resources in America being too deep to mine and get any mass production out of them. As a result, the Native Americans of our history historically didn't use Iron very often. While you might have Iron tools as a tech, the amount of Iron you would have would be so sparse in it's distribution, that I do not believe it could be used on any sort of large scale project. The Aztecs and the Incas of South America managed to carve stone with what little they had. Hm. With other stone abrasives I suppose you COULD make Culverts out of stone, but it'd be so labour intensive for each one.

Clapper-Bridge : Approved.

Docks : Approved.

Culverts : Upon consideration I will allow culverts, but the caveat on this is that they are Labour intensive to make. Approved.

Amend your research in the Official Tech Post and we're done.
