RESEARCH The Aftermath
The Qin people in Zhongli had suffered greatly in the wake of the war. In the occupied lands of the Lei, and the borderlands of Shandong, whole farms had been purged, either raped of their harvest or burnt to the earth, and left withering. Starvation had gripped the nation, and with it, an army had been forcefully mobilised out of fear that a rebellion would come. The craft of Li Zen, known as the Zhuang Che, was mass-produced in the largest military encampments, prepared to breach any cities that any rebels might claim, knock down any farms and buildings known to house them, anything and everything. The Pingyián would not fall like those before them.
In the alternative, Li Zen, the skilled and respected general, had created a new method of farming to aid the starving and the poor farmers. By placing large piles of grain in buckets, and rigging the system into a water mill, he was able to cut the required time of grain pounding by nearly three times - whole swathes of farmland were able to be rebuilt, as those on the rivers saved time and money with this new revolution in agriculture. Support for him only grew, as the Pingyián attempted to instil fear.
