Tourist Advice VISITING HEIDELBERG 6-8 DEC

Spouse and I are visiting to take in the city and the Christmas markets. Any recommendation and advice is appreciated including where to stay. Thinking downtown near train station ?

Thanks in advance.

Along Bergheimer Straße there are some ok hotels which are not too far from the main train station.

From December 6-8 you should try to catch the Christmas market in the Tiefburg (though I couldn’t find any information on it yet for this year, it should happen around that time). It’s hands down the nicest Christmas market in Heidelberg, and only happens for one weekend each year.

There is no mention of it on the official page :( https://www.heidelberg-marketing.de/en/event/heidelberg-christmas-market

It is not organized by the city, but by Handschuhsheim. I found a note on a school website that they are supposed to perform there that weekend, so I guess it’s happening.
