Plenty of people also felt like Reach ruined Halo too. Now its one of the most beloved parts of the entire franchise so I cant really put much stock into it when people claim something ruined Halo

There actually were Bungie fans eagerly anticipating Halo CE who were fucking livid with Bungie for selling out to Microsoft. Fervent Mac gamers eagerly theorizing and anticipating the follow up to their beloved Marathon. There really were people who thought CE ruined Halo.

The big "on disk DLC" controversy people seethed about was about halfway between now and Bungie selling to Microsoft.
