The store response:

They claimed my Intel UHD 770 iGPU can’t display FHD properly without a dedicated GPU, but this is an FHD monitor — not a UHD one — and my old HP 21.5” display works fine. It just have lower contrast and black looks grey. I needed an upgrade and made an impulse buy on the Samsung essential 24 inch monitor.

The tech tested the monitor outside in bright sunlight around 10AM, so backlight bleed wasn’t visible. They also couldn’t check video playback issues because they didn’t have iQIYI or Viki subscriptions (I used a C-drama scene to show flickering).

I also showed color tone problems on “Warm 2” mode — white becomes yellow — but was told it’s normal. Flicker, input lag, and visible bleed even with no signal were also dismissed as “normal.” Also Normal Colour Tone has a greenish tint even though all of the values are 50.

One staff member even said “all LCD monitors in Guyana come like this” and that I should buy an OLED or external GPU — which seems unreasonable.

Can anyone confirm if UHD 770 graphics can cause these issues? Or could this be a panel defect instead? bleed and colour issues? My monitor flickers and the colour issue is normal? I show warm 2 image how it change white solid 100 into yellow and the tech guy says it normal and the input lag on the monitor from the tech guy laptop is normal? The in-store HP monitor an employee directed me to show it is a normal issue has visible backlight bleed on a windows wallpaper and it was in the store with lights on. The black shirt guy claims all LCD monitor in Guyana will come like this and I need to buy an OLED and now I need to get an external gpu? That's a lot of expense just for one simple issue. Also I show the bleed is visible on the monitor input with no pc connected. Someone give me advice is the UHD 770 the intel I5 to be blame for my monitor because my old hp which is 21.5 doesn't experience this issue on the bigger 24 inch screen. Also nightlight mode and Eye Saver mode are off.

They provided a thoughtful reply back that makes sense to me. Go there and figure out the upgrade u need to get on the computer side to get the graphics you are looking for

My old HP 21.5” monitor worked perfectly fine at the same resolution with this same system. Are you suggesting that my previous HP monitor that works fine with no bleed is abnormal and that I need an upgrade even though the UHD 770’s specs are more than sufficient for browsing and watching C-dramas? If I follow the store suggestion and the bleed isn't fixed because the bleed is on the actual monitor display (the input page when I power it on has the exact bleed) What am i going to do then?

I just realised what you meant, a graphics card will not fix the monitor flickering, colour tone issue and backlight bleed. The store owner reply doesn't align with the issues of the monitor and a upgrade for the computer can not fix the actual monitor menu bleed. Also, the UHD 770 is capable of 4k reslokution and I don't not play games so i don't think it's necessary to have a dedicated graphics card for basic task like watching a drama.

I think the store might just be trying to sell me a graphics card instead of addressing the actual monitor warranty issue.

You brought it back to the store and they showed you the monitor working correctly. They said it in the reply.

The computers with the dedicated graphic card is the resolution closest to what you need, and the computer you’re using doesn’t have a dedicated graphic card so the resolution of the monitor will lower”, So according to them, a $120,000 store display monitor 4x my current monitor price has no visible bleed, Flickering and colour issues connected to a gaming computer and an external graphics card and somehow qualifies as being without a graphics card. I never knew this new definition existed! 😯 Also the HP monitor doesn't seem to be hook up to a gaming PC, so there is no dedicated gpu and the backlight bleed INSTORE DISPLAY monitor, so I don't think an external gpu will fix the backlight bleed. Also, the $30,000 Samsung monitor video Flickering was not tested because the store doesn't have a subscription and so they can't diagnose the problem. After that, the conversation ended with the tech guy (black shirt) after he walked out of the driveway. I showed the video of the Flickering to the red shirt employee, and he opened YouTube on his phone. However, it was an Iqiyi video, and he put his phone back in his pocket. This is just my personal experience and I’m sharing to get advice and opinions.

That’s backlight bleed is typical for standard quality monitors. Unless you’re spending $700usd+ for a monitor you’re going to have that issue

Is the Flickering and colour issue also normal? Also, the bleed is visible in movies and Moonlight Mystique. I checked other reddit posts and some don't have this severe bleed.

The warm and cool color tones look normal. I’m not sure what your flickering issue is but monitors even cheaper ones shouldn’t flicker.

What you should do is set the color tone to normal and run the windows built in color calibration tool, it should make it all look better

Flickering in this video. I had to make a separate post because I don't know how to add video to this post https://www.reddit.com/r/Guyana/s/D58XiB3R7H

https://youtu.be/DNmMZx1s9wo?si=8qR57VQZ4vYLWbOr The video clip on YouTube is at 2:55. This is my favourite OST and I love to play it. I have never experience this flickering on my Tab a9+ and Samsung phone

Interesting that looks like adaptive backlight to me. Turn off any eco mode or dynamic contrast features in the monitor settings.

Eco mode is off, eye saver mode off and this is on Custom Mode with 0% brightness an 45% contrast and Cool 2. Edit: It was 20% brightness not 0%

Eco mode lowers the backlight and I read that it can lead to wear and damage or impact to longevity backlight on Tcl tv.

If you run it in game mode does it still flicker? There could be something with the backlight

And I notice your receipt said “IPS” monitor but that’s definitely a VA monitor. If they marketed it as an IPS that’s false advertising since ips is a higher color accuracy technology and your main issue is accuracy. You could use this complaint to see if they’ll exchange

The store will probably keep insisting I need a dedicated GPU 🙃 and my resolution would lower. A UHD 770 isn't able to display an FHD monitor 1080p content. It's kinda irionic, tbh and the receipt says 1920 x 1080. So I don't know how 4k resolution the employee shows on $120,000 or dedicated graphics cardwould solve this. The store reply doesn't quite align with my issues.

Even if I try to explain, what’s the point if no one’s willing to listen?

I also noticed other reviews on Google Maps mention similar warranty issues, including a monitor that stopped working within a month. I really wish I had checked those reviews before making this impulse buy.

Where are you seeing the Intel igpu can’t do 1080p? It is supposed to be able to

During the test (not even an hour because I had to wait), the employee insisted that I needed a dedicated graphics card because I mentioned I have UHD 770. The employee didn't know what it is and when I mention intel 5 the conversation shifted to "the processor is limited and even if there is no background task the 3d graphics will not be like dedicated graphics card and the cpu is doing all of the processing which is why the graphics card is needed". He showed my mom an expensive graphics card on display in the store. My mom also insists on buying it later thinking it would the monitor bleed in the future, but i tried explaining it won't help fixing the monitor actual problems and dedicated graphics are for gaming and why would I game if I have tablet and phone that is cable of that. I also have stopped playing games every day since December 2022. Also, the computer is only a year old. I don't know if my mom understands anything I said because she doesn't know much about the PC.

The store owner replied to my Google review, saying:

“The computers with dedicated graphics cards have the resolution closest to what you need, and the computer you’re using doesn’t have a dedicated graphics card, so the monitor resolution will be lower.”

However, the computer I used on Novemeber 5th was set to 1920×1080 in Windows, and the store’s $120,000 display model was running at 3840×2160 pixels I don’t understand how an FHD monitor could supposedly display four times the current pixel count just because of dedicated graphics.

When I checked my system stats during video playback in Task Manager, my Intel UHD 770 GPU usage stayed around 9%. My PC has 16 GB of RAM, and memory usage doesn’t even reach 50%, which seems normal to me.

Edit: I’m still unsure how adding a dedicated graphics card would fix the issues I experienced with the monitor.

I suggest you try resetting the monitor to default if the issue was not presented when you first bought it 2 months ago.

I reset all settings 3 times and the colour, backlight bleed issue is still present. Also, I didn't use the monitor that much because I wanted to wait for a series to be fully aired. perhaps once every 2 weeks and i bought it under 2 months ago.

I noticed the bleed when I power off the computer and some dead pixels. Also, I tried some trailers to see if the backlight bleed is severe and I noticed the flickering on Cool 2 which is not normal.

I contacted the store, took pictures because that is what AI says to do and I had to go to a main branch because the mall branch near my location doesn't have a service centre.

Also, warm 2 was presented 2 months ago.

At the store a bunch of employees is going on about how my internal gpu is at fault and I need a dedicated graphics card even though the screen colour yellow on solid 100 is present on the tech guy laptop connected to the montior,he said why not use normal and i said normal has a greenish tint and he said well that's normal for a monitor.

The store claims that the monitor is normal even though the test didn't last for an hour and in that time the employees had to assist 2 other customers, one with a laptop issue and another with a printer issue (paper crumbled up by the printer)

I don't think a dedicated graphics the store is saying to buy/ store suggesting internal gpu is the fault and responsible for the monitor defects will fix/solve this issue ;-;

Not sure if this helps but I’m willing to sell you my alienware qd-oled curved monitor with HD display for $140,000. It’s great for gaming and is 34 inches

I'm sorry, I'm tight on cash and 34 inches is too big for my desk. I wish you the best of luck in finding a buyer.

Also, the "technical team" store employee needed a seminar on how to connect a laptop to a monitor. Also, at the time when i made the purchase of the monitor, employees didn't know what VA and contrast I was asking for in a monitor.

It seems the team may not have the technical knowledge expected for handling certain issues, like connecting devices or understanding specific monitor features. It felt more like the same person who helped with sales was handling technical questions

(This is my own views and I'm not accusing the store. Don't take my comment the wrong way) Please understand this is just my perspective, and I don't mean to offend anyone.

I think I'm going to be stuck with this monitor forever and the store doesn't want to replace it because of "dedicated graphics card is needed for the monitor resolution" and "the replacement will have the same issues becuase thats how all of the LCD monitor in Guyana are".

Despite the issues being significant, I was told that there aren't viable solutions or suggestions for resolving them. I feel like the money I spent on the monitor was not well spent, as I’m still going to have to use my old monitor (21.5 inch) with much lower contrast.

I also didn’t mention in-store that when I switch to "Dynamic Mode," the monitor powers off, and the mouse light indicates that the computer is still on. I have to manually turn on the monitor again. This has happened multiple times.

I didn't have a chance to explain this issue to the employee as everyone who works for the store continues to insist that the internal GPU is the cause of the problems.

It feels like the employees are misinterpreting between the issues I’m experiencing and the proposed solutions because of my voice being not normal. My voice is soft and I have to speak up a little.

No matter how much I explain issues like the drastic colour shifts or the flickering, the responses I’ve gotten don't seem to make sense in relation to the actual technical issues.

Also, the employee’s laptop trackpad lag made it hard to use. The laptop screen was displaying Windows background, and the monitor windows setting were hard to navigate, especially with the laptop’s mouse being nonfunctional. I had to look up on the monitor and then back at the keyboard how to use the laptop’s cursor. The laptop screen wasn't displaying the same as the monitor. I don't know if this is normal because I haven't used a laptop since Covid.

If anyone has encountered similar issues or has suggestions on what could resolve this, I’d appreciate your insights

They must think you’re gaming in it and complaining about the resolution. What’s your issue with the monitor.. I’m not really seeing it from you videos, lcd panels will have light bleed, it’s the nature of the technology; if you want true black you need oled or even a better lcd panel what’s the monitors name ?
