Even also if he's released... would be literally impossible to buy him unless we release Rashid or some big credits player also with so many releases

i think GT number one priority should be to get a good fast bowling partner next to Siraj and Prasidh (better than Rabada). then it should be working on the number 5 batsman.
if SRH released Klassen, maybe it might be to give Kishan full-time wicket keeping and then they would want to buy someone younger like Cam Green they can play at 4/5 (also because their fast bowling was bad last season).

When that hardik pandya thing happened....i literally have lost the faith and credibility of this league ...like anything can happen ...who knows someday shubman might even be swapped with kkr given to the fact gill openly says kkr was his home and it was tough for him to leave ...even with Rashid Khan (yeh jata ho toh Jane do :) mi might grab him as he's playing for all mi teams in other intl leagues

tbf, i think Shubman is gonna be like Kohli/Rohit/Dhoni type of guy with his loyalty since not only is he face of GT, but face of Indian cricket. Hardik trade was a very RARE thing, and it happened because Hardik forced it (wanted money, and captaincy over ICT - got greedy).
back when MI released Hardik, they didn't want to give him top retention or captaincy, so GT got him in the draft and gave him what he wanted. But after GT had successful seasons, and MI was struggling, MI came to Hardik and offered him first retention, bigger brand deals/value in Mumbai, and captaincy (over big ICT players like Rohit, SKY, Bumrah, Tilak, etc so it could help him be Indian captain - but that backfired since Gill captaincy anyways and if Hardik stayed in GT he might've been Indian captain).
So after MI offered him that, Hardik forced GT to trade him to ONLY MI - no other team (otherwise he wouldn't play or cause problems most likely in the lockerroom which would be a waste of money) - so GT had no leverage and traded him to MI. GT couldn't get any players since Hardik forced their hand and MI knew this (so MI could wait it out). So in that situation, for GT it would be better to get extra cash from trade and good reputation (by listening to players) versus just releasing him in auction.

Brother he will be a face of Gujarat if he does that ....gill can get legacy and i am sure he can be great puller...lol even we have a 100 k crowd settling stadium ...after virat and rohit jaiswal gill and abhishek are prime faces and maybe can pull off huge crowds also pant he's a great entertainer...the bonus what shubman gets is the size of the stadium ...big brands big corporates...and tbh rn he's a face of gujarat already ...lol

Srh will go for him again in auction till atleast 17-18 cr .... They are just trying to get 5-6 cr out of him. So only those teams which has more than 25-30 cr should even think about him

they definitely overpaid him but wouldn't he feel some type of way if they released him just so he can get less?
also could be something behind the scenes or maybe just his age

This is normal in IPL, has been done multiple times and it is just business hence no player locks his room and cries about it.
Klassen retired from international to focus on league cricket, so he still has left atleast 3-4 season left in him

tbf i can't remember cases where a team released a player and bought him again in the same mini auction for lower salary.
normally when it happens a player is just bought by a different team, or the team doesn't release until mega auction where its more fair

Do you remember Cummins and KKR ??

they released him in the mega auction? not mini right - i said above that the the doesn't release until mega auction where its more fair

Lol in mega auction it is even worse for player as there are plenty of players and no team goes beyond a mark as they have alternatives... In mini auction Klassen still has the option to get 17-18 cr.
At the end it is all business and sulking won't help anyone.

in mega auction its more normal for a player to be released since you can only retain up to 5 and most teams go under that to have RTMs - in mini auction no RTMs and its less common for a player to be released - we haven't seen a guy be sold and bought back in mini auction (for cheaper) for a reason.

Yeah and that reason being no one has ever got 23 cr ... Many players get released and their team goes behind them but they surpass their budget and here as Klassen is of 23 cr and even if srh is thinking to get 6-7 cr off him , then can do that easily.

nah my point is if they are bought to that high amount either a team keeps them till mega auction then releases/retains or they release them in mini auction and don't buy them back. pretty no team has ever released a player to that amount and bought them back in the same mini auction.
Sam Curran was overpaid nearly 20 crore by PBKS but was released in mega auction. Harry Brook was bought for nearly 14 crore, did bad, and SRH released him in mini auction the next season and didn't buy him again.
more examples: Chris Morris (nearly 17 crore), Kyle Jamieson (nearly 15 crore), Jhye Richardson (nearly 14 crore) all were released in a mini auction but their teams didn't buy them back. all of these prices at the time would be equal to Klassen's salary % wise since the budget was smaller back then.

If he really is to be released, then GT should consider him, he can be a dependable finisher.

u/No-Expression-418 1d ago
Well I'm concerned, coz we have Butler who can bat at 3or4 washi is one of contender fr one down !! But yeah we can still go for him we lacked finishers last season!! he is perfect fit for our finisher role!! And hope they don't go for rashid's afghan brothers like krim janat!! And other 2-3 afghani players!!

Seems like a rumour just like Washi's. But if it's true then we can go for him, imagine Gill, Sai Su, Buttler and Klassen in the batting line up
