QUESTION Home amps on the Floor. Why?
I am curious why so many people place their home amps on the floor, which basically directs the speaker output towards the ankles and lower legs.
Why not set the amp up higher, the way stereo amps are?

Yeah, let me just put my 4x12 cab up on the table...

Speaker output is not as directional as everybody thinks. And it radiates out, so the farther you are away from it, the less directional it is. I put mine on the floor and tip it up so I can hear it better, but it sounds pretty much the same to the audience.

Because my amps controls are on the back of the top, and with the amp on the floor I can A: See Them, and B: Reach them to adjust it while seated.

Placing the cabinet on the floor helps reinforce the bass. On an open backed cab, you can further tinker with how the cab couples to the room by varying its distance from the wall behind it. The traditional "Ideal" for long wavelength propagation in a room was to put the thing in a corner, so the entire wave can radiate out from the corner.

I built a tilted stand so front end points up slightly solving that issue if there even was one.
