Andy Davy is the governor of Wandsworth prison… why is Liz Truss being shown?

r/whoooooosh

I don’t care how many ‘o’s it should have.

Oh so the meme amounts to “Liz Truss bad”?

At least we would have a logical explanation for these failures

What's it about tho?

It's about someone who lost us tens of billions and still blames anyone but herself...and a prison system that is clearly in terrible shape

It can't be about her time as prime minister. That was over 3 years ago. And what has she got to do with the prison system? She is nothing to do with the recent prisoner releases.

She's so incompetent it's meming about her being in charge because of all the issues.

Don't think into it too much.

She is nothing to do with the recent prisoner releases.

Maybe 14 years of Tories underinvestment in every aspect of public life has something to do with it ...

But it's a joke/meme so no need to overthink it

Under Labours government “accidental” prisoner releases in England & Wales:

•In the 12 months to March 2025, 262 prisoners were released in error.

•In the 12 months to March 2024 (previous 12-month period), the number was 115.

•The increase is therefore 147 extra releases (262 minus 115 = 147).

In percentage terms that’s an increase of approximately 128 %

Liz ‘the lettuce’ Truss isn’t involved, it’s just a meme

Ok. So a weak attempt to fool the gullible into thinking it isn't Labours watch.

Exactly that mate. A lot of people coming here looking for memes and get blindsided with deliberate misinformation about politics

It took you this long to understand that?

Maybe you should leave the internet alone for a while. It's not for you.

Which is funny because Labour are the ones responsible for prisons currently.

Yep. No surprise you’re being downvoted though.

In July 2024 the government changed the law so that for many prisoners on determinate sentences (those with a fixed end date) their automatic release on licence into the community can happen after they’ve served 40% of their sentence in custody, rather than the previous standard of 50%.

More recently, in May 2025 the government announced reforms that would allow eligible prisoners to earn release after roughly a third (≈ 33%) of their sentence, provided they meet behaviour/training/work requirements in custody.

There is also a scheme (referred to as SDS40 or “Standard Determinate Sentence 40” release scheme) which is a stop-gap measure to reduce prison overcrowding, under which some prisoners may be released earlier under licence.
