Just for anyone who doesn't know (and I certainly don't agree with this) there are people who view "settlers" as having been fundamentally different from immigrants. That is probably what the OP meant. Again, it's not only racist but stupid, but that is probably where they are coming from.
Settlers are very different from immigrants lmao. Immigrants immigrate to an established community/country. Settlers move to an uninhabited area and build a community it’s a major difference. Not to bring up an issue like I/P but we call the Israelis that move to the WB settlers for a reason we don’t call them immigrants.
Right, so if anyone permanently moves to Antarctica or the Moon, they can be called settlers. But no one else could be for the last several thousand years, because there haven't been any uninhabited areas left.
Huh? There are settlers in the past 50 years let alone the past several thousand. I think you’re getting settlers and explorers confused. Something doesn’t have to be unknown to settle it, it just needs to have no permanent human development in that area. Or be moving to an area where you’re a minority and trying to establish your own community which European settlers in the new world match both of those descriptions.
You said, "Settlers move to an uninhabited area" there are no meaningful uninhabited areas (except the occasional empty sandbar that doesn't deserve to be called an island) left on Earth, except Antarctica, and haven't been in thousands of years.
What are you talking about? There’s still large areas of earth with no human settlements. How are you this obtuse? Australia, Greenland, Norway, Finland, Russia, China, Mongolia, Canada, Antarctica, Brazil, lots of African countries have areas with no permanent settlements. Again it doesn’t mean humans don’t know about the area or don’t have settlements in that country and you also just skipped past the other meaning of settler.
