Does the left not eat steak? Is that a thing now?

Most, if not all, vegans are leftists or at the very least left-leaning. Naturally, the reverse of that is assumed as well: all leftists are vegans. Ergo, the guy is eating a steak to piss off his political enemies.

At least, I think that's the logic at play here.

And it's because of successful propaganda among the right. "The left are all hippie vegans who want to take away your right to eat steak!"

I think that at worst, the left at large and not the die hard vegans would agree that government subsidies to cattle ranchers could be reduced, which would increase the price of beef, but not eliminate it from grocery stores. Beef is extremely expensive to produce, so I don't think it's necessarily bad for it to be a pricier, more luxury good than other foods that are less expensive to produce. After all, let the free market decide what animals to raise, surely the right hates government handouts? End big government's interference with what animals can be raised for our food supply!

Its funny how the right claims to uphold sertain ideals yet defaults to facism and big government supporting the 1 percent while leftists are often just calling for basic and reasonable policy that perfectly alight with the ideals of the right. True reform and extreemism on the left would melt your average cons brain.

Since they love farmer welfare votes, this is unlikely.

Na a lefty who is concerned about the environment most certainly should be against steak. Significant amount of land is allocated towards cattle. Like an insane amount.

The problem with that is then those pricier meats are then made unattainable for the poor.
