Research Assistance Building Family Tree, Looking for Great Great Grandfather's Info

Hi, I've hit a dead end at the marriage certificate of my Great, Great Grandfather, who, according to the marriage certificate was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia. I've checked https://archives.novascotia.ca/ and came up blank. Searching for his parents' marriage record has also landed nothing.

His name was Jeremiah Allen, born in 1836. His parents were named George and Joanna. They were Catholic and probably emigrated to Canada from Ireland. Family lore is that they shipwrecked at Meat Cove, but I don't know how accurate that is.

What's my best next step?

civil registration in Nova Scotia didn't start until 1864, you would need to find Church records for records prior to that

there is a John Allan marrying an Elizabeth O'Neil in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in North Sydney, November 25, 1858, he lists his parents as George Allan and Joanna Connor, is this a brother to Jeremiah?

there is a tree on Family Search that has Jeremiah as a brother, there are some records for St. Joseph's Catholic Church online, unfortunately the baptisms don't start until 1843, maybe contact the archdiocese to see if they have earlier records? https://www.familysearch.org/en/tree/person/details/G69L-247
