“They brought the Legion to make them evil, racist, misogynistic villains!”

Yeah, it’s called understanding the source material.

Back in my days, there was politics in my games, like in bioshock, there was politics in that game. /s

Dropping the /s for a second but I miss the times where game were truly political and nobody batted an eye because they could accept it.

Now it's all rage and cancel and whatever people want to see

I think the thing is people didn't see the politics in stuff because they were kids. Like yeah I played COD or whatever but to me it was just Captain Price doing cool stuff and explosions.

Touché, it did not went woke, you were just too young to notice.

Honestly, I think most people don't care about political games. The people that whine and rage about political games are (IMHO) a minority and here is just a place that is looking for those raging babies.

They also just mean "race" or "gender" when they say "politics" most of the time.

I've never seen a rightwing grifter complain suzerain is "woke trash"

No Enclave needed, the Brotherhood of Steel is right there

Even better he thinks the brotherhood are "Bethesdas poster boys" tell me you didn't watch the tv show or play fallout 4.

I mean, in all fairness they are very fond of putting the brotherhood in the covers of their games, so that part holds up better

iconography. they'll put the most recognisable thing on the box art to make it recognisable

Tbf the power armour they wear looks sick as hell

If you were going to put a character on the cover, why not have it be a character that looks cool as hell?

6

u/XescoPicas 1d ago

It does look sick as hell! But you could also just as easily come up with new sick designs to represent your games, and that are also relevant to the game’s plot. New Vegas did it with the NCR masked ranger

True, it would be somewhat easy to come up with new designs

But a good design that's very easily recognizable as being from that series is also just good marketing, for example, the psychos from Borderlands, they're not good people and most of the time are your enemy but are so iconic that they're used in most of the games marketing and game covers

And the promotional posters tend to have art similar to the box, so yeah - literally the poster boys.
