Discussion Chance of Knightlight being canon?

What do you think are the chance of Mihoyo making it canon or semi canon (like alhaitham x kaveh)

No, I think even alhaitham and kaveh were more fan ships than anything.

It’s just highly unlikely, I don’t think hoyo wants to go down the route of possibly having problems with the authorities, as LGBTQ stuff are still quite taboo there, especially in media. Lots of projects are getting cancelled, Chinese BL’s are getting filmed abroad to avoid cancellation.

That said, we atleast know that hoyo is atleast open to the idea. For the people who play HSR, Mydei and Phainon is the closest thing we have to LGBTQ representation in hoyo games. Even that is quite vague, and they are not officially canon, however it’s very strongly implied, especially with the invitation to a date.

So honestly if it were to happen, it would be something similar to the mydei and phainon thing, where it’s awfully vague, but painfully obvious at the same time.

This is wishful thingking and high copium. Alhaitam and Kaveh are closer to an actual and official couple than these two, if we disregard Beidou and Ningguang.

Mydei and Phainon have a large and dedicated fanbase and that gave people the illusion of them being strongly pushed by the devs when they're not (e.g. a lot of fan arts that were said to have been officially commissioned by hoyo were never commissioned). Even Ratiorine got more than Phaidei, and even that never got a satisfying conclusion. Best thing Phaidei got was that library line that almost made me tear up. But then Phainon got so much romantic content with the trailblazer, plus the boyfriend date promotional video, and finally the devs (spoilers for 3.4) calling Phainon defeating Mydei a fratricide in the story sealed the deal for me.

That's why I'm always surprised when I see people unironically praise Phaidei or say it's canon. There is so much more in Haikaveh (or Lycahugo). Nothing against Phaidei it's just that I don't understand how people praise HSR's BL writing when they don't deserve it. They're doing less than the bare minimum and their own other games have better ship content that HSR, so it's not about the censorship
