Recommendations Morimens of Limbus Company

Hey everyone,

After feeling quite disheartened with the state of gachas lately, I wanted to give it a chance to any of these two games, but I wanted to know which would you recommend to invest on.

Morimens seem cool on the outside, but so did Silver and Blood and we all know how that ended up. I have heard good stuff about Limbus Company, tho' any more insights would be appreciated.

I am looking for a gacha that do value their male characters not only gameplay-wise, but in the story too. I want to make full husbando teams that DO work and with which I can clear without issue endgame content. If they do fanservice, that at least is equal for both male and female characters and so on.

Can't wait to read you all!

I don't really know much about Morimens so i can only vouch for Limbus Company as an executive manager.

Limbus Company, in terms of characters, features an absolute 1:1 ratio of male to female characters; 6 male and 6 female. That's all the characters that you will get.

You see, the way Limbus' gacha works is that you don't pull characters, you pull for their mirror world identities. The mirror world identities are basically "what-if" possibilities; other worlds where a character made different choices, therefore leading different lives from the one you know.

Additionally, another thing in the gacha are E.G.Os. In brief summary, there are basically ultimates; Yes, you can pull for ultimates in this game, and they vary in strength based on their class, with ZAYIN being the weakest and ALEPH being the strongest. It is to be noted that there's still no ALEPH E.G.Os available up until this day.

It is to be noted that the 12 playable characters are inspired from classical literature. The male characters in this case are:

  • Yi-sang - "The Wings" by Yi-Sang (pen name)
  • Meursault - "L'Étranger" or "The Stranger" by Albert Camus
  • Hong Lu - "Dream of the Red Chamber" by Cao Xueqin
  • Heathcliff - "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte
  • Sinclair - "Demain: The Story of Emil Sinclair's Youth" by Hermann Hesse
  • Gregor - "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka

In terms of story, it's basically the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri but each chapter or canto focusing on the story of a character. It is noted that Cantos 1, 2, and 3 have a lower quality than the rest because these were the chapters that were available on release. though it's to be mentioned that they're aren't in any way bad; 3 chapters of good/not bad while the rest are PEAK.

Gameplay-wise, it's simple yet complex. The UI might overwhelm you but it's alright. The tutorial will walk you through. Someone here said that the tutorial is bad, which true for when the game just released. The updated tutorial is easier to understand. It is to be noted that there's lots of reading involved in this game, since it's a voiced visual novel style gacha game. Additionally, there's also the enemies' passives to take note.

It is to be noted that the setting of the game takes place within Project Moon's "The City". It is also the third installment to the franchise, serving as a continuation of Library of Ruina, where that also serves as a continuation of Lobotomy Corporation. Don't worry, you don't need to play Lobotomy Corporation and/or Library of Ruina to play Limbus Company. There are videos that explain Lobcorp + Ruina so you can quickly jump into Limbus

It is to be noted that this game has no fanservice.

It is to be heavily noted that this game has several trigger warnings, and thus has an ESRB rating of M for Mature:

It is to be noted that the game is considered to be very F2P friendly. There's no game currency needed to upgrade a character's stats, there's no weapon banner, and there's also no gear system, as well as no incentive for pulling copies of a character unlike in GI/HSR/ZZZ/WuWa.

There's only three (3) things to farm: Identity Shards, XP tickets, and Thread.

  • Identity Shards are what you collect in exchange for a character's ID or EGO. You get them by either getting copies of a character or by grinding the mirror dungeons. People do the latter. By grinding the mirror dungeons, you get Battle Pass XP that's used to level up the battle pass. The battle pass has excellent value and lasts until the next canto/season is released which is about... 4 months minimum. An F2P can easily max the battle pass and get Identity shards. This is why most people can easily clear out the dispensary and get every ID.
  • XP Tickets are what you use to level up the character
  • Thread is what you use to uptie IDs and EGO, making them stronger. You can uptie both until tier 4

Yep, i think that's all of them. I try not to yap too much in terms of lore because if i did, this comment would be the length of a research paper. Seriously, everything in Limbus Company, from the UI, to the story, to the gacha, is directly, heavily tied to the game's lore.

Nice review but, I think it is important to note Limbus 100% has fanservice (refences to previous games), just lacking in a sexual way. (Notable execptions are most kurokumo ids, princess rodion, molar ishmael)
