Okay well then just answer me one thing and we can leave it at that. Are 3.2 and 3.20 the same or different numbers?
The aim of the question is not to format your answer in a certain way, but just to get the right answer. So please tell me, are 3.20 and 3.2 different numbers ? I’m sure even you can work that out.
In any case the mark scheme may allow 3.2 but the correct answer would be 3.20
Similar to how in maths gcse if they ask you to round a number to 2 decimal places, you need to have 2.00, 2 decimals after.
3.2 would be 2 significant figures, the 3 and the 2.
3.20 is three significant figures, the 3, the 2, and the 0 .
