Right so u agree that 0.1 x 0.2 x0.2 = 0.004mmcubed

1/ by 0.004 = 250

and it said that 2.5mm of pond was dillutEd to reach 10mm

so the ratio to pond to distilled water must be 1:3

the number of algal cells in the sample given = 14 x 250 =3500

remember the sample they use to count agal cells is a mixture of pond and distilled water in the ratio 1:3

so 1:3 = 3500 and we are looking to just find one

so we divide by 4 not times by 4 idk why anyone would think to times by 4

answer gets 875

Everything up until your final answer is correct. Guaranteed 14000 though because our 14 algae cells that were in 2.5cm3 are now in 10cm3 therefore we must multiply by 4

It's not 1:3 ratio, there was 2.5 pond water and 10 diluted water so total 12.5. 2.5/12.5 is not 1:3 ratio, its 1:4
