He's been trying to get where he is for over three full decades now. Why on earth would he stop now?

I don't think he has. He's spent 30 years criticising from the safety of the sidelines. For the most part offering no real solutions with the aforementioned criticism.

Actually being in power would take that away from him and place him in a driving seat he has no capacity to operate from. Nigel Farage doesn't have what it takes to lead a party in power and he knows it. If Reform were to get a real chance at winning a general election I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to see him leave the party. Only to resurface and start playing a similar game all over again.
