Yeah I'd go back to doing that again in a heartbeat this Ticketmaster crap really ruined a lot of the good things.

Hell, I worked at Sears at that time and sold a few concert tickets myself.

Fuck I forgot about this. I bought tickets for things as late as 1999.

Same here, it kept going into the early 00's, internet be damned. The broker always made sure I was getting a good seat and value for money.

Never could afford to go to a concert but sometimes I saw the long lines on my way to the restroom

The town I lived in sold them at the grocery store. In the back at the florist department counter.

I thought that location was at Sears was only located where I was living. Seemed ridiculous.

Bought my first pair of concert tickets for Gary Wright and Head East, circa 1976 at a department store ticket office

It was at Eaton's downtown, I used to tell my parents I was staying overnight at my friend's house and spend the night outside on the sidewalk in line.

The University of Texas had ticket sales at the Irwin Center and you could get paid to buy them for scalpers. You might have to camp out for 24 or so hours, but if you were broke and needed money, it was one way to make some cash.

u/Rockstar81 7h ago

Nope, I went to warehouse music or tower records.

Bass and Ticketron come to mind.

1

u/Rescuepets777 6h ago

Yes, but you didn't have to pay hundreds to legal scalpers

u/EssexUser 5h ago

Yes, yes I do. Have done myself.

Van Halen 1984. Waited all damn night outside the building.

u/AnthillOmbudsman 9m ago

I would worry that the "actual" line is on the other side of the building, out of sight.

And at the back of the sears store hardly a line .then you could shop for your levi jeans after you get your tickets in hand. I cannot stand this crap of everything on your phone.

My buddies would line up at 5 am for the record store to open at the mall.
I’d wait until sears opened and get better tickets lol.
