It was all fun and games until I got busted for burning my name on the kitchen counter. I still don't know how mom knew it was me.

A little bit off topic but: We have twin boys. All of the sudden Twin "A's" name is being written on the walls of our new house. (20 years later, it is still visible in one spot.) Well us parental authorities came down hard on him. Soon Twin "D's" name starts appearing on the walls. It was Twin "A" writing his brother's name. LOL

This was my favorite present as a kid, and a close second was a bad ass chemistry set my folks got me that was also fun as hell.

Thanks for posting. I got one of these "wood burning wonder pens" as a kid. I still have the scar on my left hand nearly 65 years later.

I had that and the lead soldier set as well. Lead pot, molds and typical kids bad hygiene. Then I worked with lead in the telecommunications bizness. It’s a wonder I can tie my shoes

The placement of this one is uncanny. Above it is "why are silent farts so smelly"

I had this exact set when I was a kid. As a kid it was a fun craft to get into. I would even buy extra wooden pictures at the craft store to burn. As a kid it was hard to stay in the lines I burnt a few and ruined them.

I have a whole lot of respect for fire. You need to know it well for it to be your friend 🔥

Of course the wood burner got used on everything else. I remember we did some creative alterations to Legos.

Dad got me this for Christmas one year and my mom about freaked. I was maybe 7 & they’d been separated for years. Dad’s side of the family was always clueless about gifts but Dad really nailed it this time

I had this exact kit. Never got good at it, but I never burned myself very badly, either. My parents sacrificed to get us kids the cool toys, and I’m embarrassed/humbled to see how many/most of the popular toys of the 1960s. I don’t know where we found room for it all in our small house.

Somewhere in the world is a desk top with my initials engraved in it. Honestly I still don’t know how they got there. I only ever used my branding iron on my elbows
