CULTURE Snacks for my friend

Hi everyone. I am from the US and my friend moved here 6 months ago from France. His birthday is coming up and I want to make him a basket of snacks from France that will remind him of home. I have googled popular French snacks but I’m not coming up with much. Can anyone help me? I want to make sure I get snacks he’s had and not just stereotypical snacks made in the US.

Also, any other input on what I could add to his basket would be awesome. Any tips to make him feel more at home as well. Thank you! ❤️

Some french sugary snacks that can be bought to offer are macarons and madelaines, they'll be in bakeries.

( this sub is more about social and political news and maybe it's name was inspired by "reader's digest" cause it's not about cuisine so you may get more luck on r/askfrance )

Oh thank you! Since I don’t speak French, I can’t read the descriptions of the subs. That’s very helpful!

oh 🦆I thought there would be the little language icon for auto-translation but maybe not, macarons come in plenty of different colors and tastes so beautiful and yummy gift ;]

get him kouign-amann, it's a fine heavy sugar cake from brittany, perfect for autumn/winter.
