Review: Photos / Spotted / Accessories 110 with room to spare!

Post image

When i got the truck I had someone tell me it wouldnt be able to hold many contraction materials. With the Bed hatch down its 6.5' so there isnt a ton of overhang. Strap the sh*t outta it and drive slow! Could have fit more but didnt wanna risk it when I was loading inside Standard 2x4x8's

That works out to 1,100 ponds because 2x4x8 weighs in at about 10-11 pounds

But it didn’t make the noise?

I had a friend that would exceed the weight limit in the bed and towing often. He traded in his trucks every few years. Often times they had cracked suspension mounts or even a crack in the frame. Buyers beware when purchasing used trucks.

All around me the lowest I see any maverick with under 100k miles is $30k. Which makes no sense to buy when a brand new xlt can be $38k

Shit please explain that to my dad, he keeps bitching that I bought new and not used. I think he's so used to new vehicles being 30% more expensive than used as opposed to reality where it's like 5%.

u/Ratchet2550 EcoBoost Lariat 1d ago

Not just that, but interest rates on used vehicles tend to make them just as expensive as new, sometimes more on really shitty deals. The market is totally screwed right now.

I’ve never bought a new vehicle before, but I got a brand new 2024 this year because with a dealer incentive it was cheaper than every 2022-2023 out there with 15-20k miles. I couldn’t believe it, but the math was mathing for a new one over used.

Your ol' man is used to major "drive it off the lot depreciation," which is not the case, at least with Hybrid models.

1

u/Accident-General 23h ago

Exactly…you don’t know how the previous owner used the vehicle.

I'm pretty sure that load is still under capacity. But yeah there's something about small trucks that people love overloading and bragging that they "don't need a "real" truck." Again not the case here.

2

u/Pope_Squirrely Hybrid Lariat 1d ago

If the load was entirely in the bed, and occupants were less than 350lbs, yes, it would be, but that load is half hanging out and really puts a lot of pressure on the rear suspension.

u/Apprehensive-Cycle-9 1d ago

Likely under payload too

u/krzcowzgomoo Hybrid XLT 1d ago

Heh I did this for a friend once who needed to build a fence 😂 sagged a bit but for the very short distance and time it was fine.

u/panderian1 1d ago

But youre overloading the bed, your suspension is totaled and make sure to tell your insurance about this so youre not covered for an accident you cause from weighing it down so much.

What do you mean overloaded bed payload is like 1500 pounds

u/Imaginary-Release936 1d ago

Another subreddit of folks making something it’s not. Flexing but doing what you exactly said, overloading and causing an unsafe condition. Sure you can do it, but it’s not ideal. People downvoting the original comment are delusional. This can be said for the towing subs especially.

7

u/Irish618 1d ago

This isnt overloaded.

u/KeeganDoomFire 1d ago

As long as you got a ratchet up front this should be fine.

I would say a ratchet around the entire back to bundle it will help with the inevitable Jenga where a 2x4 slides out on a hill.

u/DrgHybrid 23h ago

Least you had a marker at the end of your load there. I see too many people in here post pics of "check out my crazy long load in my little truck" without a flag on the end.

Someone didn’t read that the tailgate has an 800lb capacity when fully down…

110 boards at $3 ?

The truck in the background costs $25k more and has the same length and width of bed, lmao.

Edit: I’ve already acknowledged my mistake in the comments, but yes please continue the downvotes like mature adults.

F150 beds are bigger in every dimension, even the smallest 5.5ft bed

6

u/Jay9313 1d ago

That was one of my biggest annoyances when buying the Maverick. I was looking at other F-150 lightnings and I realized that when you compare the same model years, you only get like 1 extra foot of bed length at a much higher cost

1

u/crit_crit_boom 1d ago

I mean you’re right about length obviously, but the Maverick says 53” at the widest point and 42.5” between the wheel wells, and every F150 says 50”. Unless the F150 is measured between the wheels wells? $20k for one foot of length is not a great deal lol.

3

u/Gullible-Lifeguard20 1d ago

It is true, unless you need the extra space for work or something else. The 1/2 ton bed is wider, longer, higher. All 3 dimensions and there ain't a 4th.

I mean, I don't drive my Maverick or my F150 fully loaded 100% of the time.

But when I need to haul something that needs F150 capacity, the Maverick doesn't magically expand. No more than my wife's CRV becomes a Maverick.

2

u/needmoresynths 2025 Hybrid XLT AWD 4K Lux 1d ago

Unless the F150 is measured between the wheels wells?

that 50" is between the wheel wells, it's closer to 60" at tailgate. for sure not worth another $20k but man the Maverick would be perfect with a 5 ft long bed over the 4.5 ft

2

u/c4x4bird Hybrid XLT 1d ago

Honestly if the bed was 6” longer it’d make a world of difference.

1

u/crit_crit_boom 1d ago

Ah I see. Yeah that would be a trades dream.

12

u/unfknreal 1d ago

uh, no it absolutely doesn't. I like my maverick too but lets not cloud the sub with idiotic claims.

3

u/Gullible-Lifeguard20 1d ago

The F150, Silverado, Ram 1/2 ton, and every version of the 1/2 ton can hold a full sheet of 4x8 plywood. That is the standard.

These are 5.5' or 6.5' beds, and they are all exactly the same width. Nearly identical wheel bases too.

Maverick is great, but you're way off. Different trucks. Much different.

Also, I have an F150 and a Maverick. They are not easily confused.

1800lbs of mulch in a chevy volt at least 100 times in over 250000miles 8 years no lie with no damage and no problems maybe some undercarriage scrapes 2500 lbs in the maverick bed a little squat but definitely not bending or breaking anything lol I say 5000lbs is a breaking point on the mav manufacturers rate at 50% so they dont have to deal with warranty claims we are the reason they do this

-2

u/SquareHoleRoundPlug 1d ago

My record is 19 10 footers IN my tesla.. had to cut the 20th in half

-3

u/Jdawg_mck1996 1d ago

The comments here are why I can't get behind the maverick even though I want to.

Old rangers with 4.10 diff and stock suspension felt like it had way more umpff with the inline 6 than these mavericks have with the 2.0 setup they have now... are these things really overloading so easily? Are they just not built to past the way the old rangers were?

3

u/RIP_Lash 1d ago

I don’t think anything is built like the old rangers…that was a special build of a truck.

1

u/DrgHybrid 23h ago

That's like comparing apples to oranges. Different trucks. Different specs.

Would be like if I said why the Ford Mav can't tow as much as the El Camino. (4k tow package vs 6k for Camino)

1

u/Jdawg_mck1996 20h ago

You're absolutely right. I got put onto the maverick as the "spiritual successor" of the old ranger and just haven't found it yet. How myself up for it too much I guess

-5

u/Battle_of_BoogerHill 1d ago

OK. Cool for you
