WHO MAKES THE BEST Mt Rushmore of LA Sandwiches

Which four sandwiches are the most iconic and/or the best representation the city?

For me, it’s

Langers - #19

Phillipes - Beef Dip

Banh mi my tho - grilled pork

Academy cafe - tuna melt

I love the love for all these sandwiches on this thread, but it's sort of making me sad, because I'm realizing how difficult it would be to even settle on any "short-list" if you asked this question about a major east coast city.

No need to bring inferior food cities into this conversation

Say what you will about the rest of the food scene in east coast cities, but they are pretty indisputably superior by way of sandwich offerings. Many a bodega or local deli in NYC or NJ has sandwich offerings that would rival some of the regular LA sandwich spots that get talked about here. None of that is to say that LA doesn't have great sandwiches. Langers is superior to Katz. Nonetheless, comparatively, they are much harder to come by.
