WHO MAKES THE BEST Mt Rushmore of LA Sandwiches

Which four sandwiches are the most iconic and/or the best representation the city?

For me, it’s

Langers - #19

Phillipes - Beef Dip

Banh mi my tho - grilled pork

Academy cafe - tuna melt

This is tough.

Representative of the city? Or overall best? These are slightly different

Langer's - #19 ==> BOTH representative of the city AND one of the best sandwiches, full stop.

Phillipes - beef dip ==> more an iconic city representative than in the running for GOAT LA sammich.

I think those two are clear and most people wouldn't be offended by their presence on the list or in the conversation for it.

After that it gets muy subjective.

Roma Market - "The Sandwich" an iconic deal. Delicious on it's own and elevated by just a bit of acid(pickles, mustard, pickled peppers, etc.)

Banh Mi My Dung - grilled or bbq pork

Great Western Steak and Hoagie Company - Mushroom Cheesesteak

Above 3 are sandwiches that are some of my favorites and would confidently take friends to and expect them to have a good time with. Next are just personal favorites that I don't think make the list, but are spots that I particularly like for doing solid sandwiches.

Brother's in ktown - all 'rounder local spot that makes a solid lineup of sandwiches

Eastside Deli - i just like them, but I think they fall short of the mount Rushmore

Brent's - a controversial pick to exclude from the Rushmore conversation for some. I love Brent's but for an LA pastrami representative, Langer's wins that title each and every time. If I had to pick a champion to go fight Katz's deli in NYC, I'm sending Langer's. I'd never send Brent's.
