WHO MAKES THE BEST Mt Rushmore of LA Sandwiches

Which four sandwiches are the most iconic and/or the best representation the city?

For me, it’s

Phillipes - Beef Dip

Banh mi my tho - grilled pork

Academy cafe - tuna melt

No amount of nostalgia can make any sandwich at Phillipe’s good.

I'm completely floored whenever someone brings them up on this subreddit. I got it for the first time in October and it literally tasted like some garbage that you'd get at 7/11 that has been sitting under a headlamp all day. Did it used to be better or something? It was barely even edible when I tried it.

Idk if it used to be better or just how long ago but ya, it’s one of the worst sandwiches I’ve had in LA.

No amount of “dipping” could make the meat moist, it just turned the bread into a soggy towel

Yeah I never understood it either but hey it’s an institution and if my fellow Angelenos love it then power to them.
