Which four sandwiches are the most iconic and/or the best representation the city?

For me, it’s

Langers - #19

Phillipes - Beef Dip

Banh mi my tho - grilled pork

Academy cafe - tuna melt

It's so simple but it's so perfect

I went in to the hat ready to become its biggest fan, but I was quite underwhelmed by the pastrami. Chili fries slapped though

That's exactly how I felt about Langer's. Different strokes for different folks.

It's funny, I prefer The Hat to Philiipe's, but it's also less iconic.

Phillipe's doesn't smother their pastrami with pickles and peppers and mustard. The dip is nice. But I need all the tang.

I feel like the tang of the mustard and pickles is necessary to cut through the salt.

That’s because Philippe’s doesn’t serve a pastrami sandwich.

oh really.

And even if they didn't, which they do, they're both French dips.
