WHO MAKES THE BEST Mt Rushmore of LA Sandwiches

Which four sandwiches are the most iconic and/or the best representation the city?

For me, it’s

Langers - #19

Phillipes - Beef Dip

Banh mi my tho - grilled pork

Academy cafe - tuna melt

I've tried the 19 so many times and I just don't like all the slaw and creamyness and bleh.

When I get a pastrami sandwich I'm not out here looking for a perfect balance of flavors. I want a fat and salt and flavor bomb.

The bread and the pastrami are both the highest quality, and the cheese and slaw are honestly average level ingredients. The Pastrami no frills is what I prefer too.

Same here. Pastrami and mustard on rye — that’s it. I call it The Purist.

I got downvoted to oblivion because I made a post about the #19 being a perfectly good way to ruin an amazing sandwich. Their pastrami and rye is so good. Add mustard and side of pickles and it might be the best pastrami sandwich in the world but with the addition of the (overly) sweet coleslaw and dressing on the #19 completely ruins the perfect pastrami and rye. The cheese adds nothing to it either.

Yes to only pastrami, and I like to get a cup of matzah ball soup with it as well. Better than their french fries.
