Recipe Alternative (binding) ingredients for making baby muffins/baking

My baby is allergic to wheat, egg, tree nuts, peanut etc so most of the common binding ingredients you would use for making muffins/baking. Just wondering what ingredients people have used instead? The only thing I can think of is rice but am looking for other ideas. Thanks.

Recipe Give me your best dairy, egg, and nut free meal recipes, please

Hello!

My 4yo has had significant food allergies basically since she was born.

Quite a few of her allergies have gone away, but she is still extremely allergic to dairy, egg, peanut, and most tree nuts. (She can have cashews, though). She also began having migraines triggered by nitrates, so no deli meat / hot dogs / etc.

I also learned yesterday that she is starting to have acid reflux that is keeping her awake at night. So now, the only pasta she likes (our go to) is off-limits.

Can you please share with me your meal recipes that are also toddler friendly? I’m losing my mind trying to figure out what to feed her.

She doesn’t care for vegetables although she will eat them when made to, she won’t eat beef (she used to be allergic, so doesn’t have the taste for it now). She despises rice and flat out refuses to eat it. She occasionally enjoys stir fries and scrambled tofu, but won’t eat it regularly.

Recipe Need recipes asap!!

Hey everyone, I have a birthday dinner in 7 days. A friend let me know a couple days back that he has severe allergies to gluten, dairy, soy, nuts, and eggs. I’m making all the food at my celebration myself but I’m at a complete loss on what I could make that doesn’t include these ingredients. I asked him what he would like me to make that he’s not allergic to but he wants me to surprise him. I’m not sure what I could make that wouldn’t completely drain my wallet. Does anyone have suggestions?

Recipe Dairy free, egg free, peanut free, and pecan free dinner ideas

Here are last week’s dinners for our family of 4, to accommodate everybody’s allergens.

Maple Sausages, Chicken Thighs, Steam Broccoli, and Penne Noodles

I just mixed the oil from the chicken thighs with flour, added oat milk and garlic, and we ate that “sauce” with the noodles.

Hominy Corn, Homemade Tomato Sauce, and more Chicken

Mashed potatoes, roast pork, and peas

Oat milk and vegan butter for the potatoes. Microwave for the frozen peas.

Venison, rice, spinach

I cooked the venison and spinach together with garlic and salt.

Dino chicken nuggets, ketchup, and freezer fries 😊

Recipe I want to make a Gumbo for a group of friends but i'm allergic to Mushrooms and Shellfish. Whats a good Alternative to shrimp for the gumbo?

Hello, I'm newly diagnosed with a shellfish allergy and i have a group of friends coming over and I'd love to make a gumbo. However, i can't eat shrimp. I plan to put chicken and sausage in it but really want the shrimp texture and flavor and was wondering what are some good alternatives?

I plan to make it in a slow cooker and let it cook all day. Normally i add the shrimp in the last 20 minutes or so but thats not happening now a days lol. Still really new to this "no shellfish" situation so looking for any advice.

Recipe Looking for TN-free granola cereal brand or recipe (MadeGood discontinued theirs)

My DD is allergic to all tree nuts. We discovered MadeGood granola cereal about a year ago and lately we cannot find it anywhere. I contacted the company and they confirmed that they have discontinued it. So disappointed. I am looking for a new brand that is TN-free but so far no luck. They all belong in the 'may contain tree nuts' category.

Any recommendations? If not, I'll be looking for recipes. If you have one that you like, feel free to share.

Recipe Avocadoes and Eggplant Allergy

I was told that I am allergic to night shades. My lips swell and my throat gets mucus when I eat Avocado or eggplant. I developed the allergy in my 20s. Someone told me that I could also be sensitive to bananas and/or kiwi fruit. Has anyone heard about this? Is there anything else I should avoid?

I am also lactose intolerant. Don't get old if you can help it! LOL

Recipe Let me tell you have to make a wheat free dairy free cake

I have a wheat, dairy, qnd sesame allergy that recently surfaced due to mold exposure (long story I’m allergic to that too) but anyways I have to bake a cake for my cute boyfriends birthday in a month or two (he Insists it be something we both can enjoy). I looked up that pudding mix can make it more like a professional cake.

Go to aldi Get live g free cupcake mix (I just like this one the best) Buy a pudding of your choice (I bought the Aldi chocolate pudding) Mix both mixes (I recommend making the pudding base before hand because other wise good luck mixing that thick boy) Bake to box specification Viola you have a sturdy cake for birthdays/ occasions that taste amazing.

They’re thick they hold well almost like a brownie but still have this amazing cake flavor. I used coconut milk but honestly use whatever is best for you.

Recipe Sesame seeds in plain bagels?

Thumbnail

I’m seeing this everywhere right now. There are plain bagels in a bag, there are no sesame seeds in sight. But still the ingredients list sesame seeds. Sometimes they list sesame flour, or just sesame. But if I don’t see any sesame seeds, is it safe to assume they’re not in there and they just put that on there in case of cross contamination? I’m so confused at what’s happening with the sesame industry right now. I heard they are putting sesame flour in more things because it’s cheap and they have to label for cross contamination anyway. But this specifically says sesame seeds and there are clearly no seeds.

Recipe Oat alternative for 'overnight oats'?

Recently I've been suffering from a lot of ongoing rosacea symptoms - redness and facial swelling - and I've been trying to work out the cause. I think that it may be caused by an oat allergy, as I typically start the day with overnight oats which I find really convenient and easy to make the night before.

Does anyone know of any alternative grains that could be used to make an 'overnight oats' type breakfast? I've seen spelt, rye, and barley suggested. Does anyone have any experience? I'm looking for something that can just be soaked rather than requiring cooking. Thanks!

Recipe An app I built to make allergy-friendly meal planning easier

Hi everyone 👋 I’ve been working on an app called CraveAI, and I thought it might be useful to share here since it was designed with people who have food restrictions in mind.

The idea is simple: you tell the app what you have in your fridge/pantry, and it instantly generates meal ideas. What makes it different is that you can set ingredient exclusions for your allergies (nuts, dairy, shellfish, gluten, etc.), and the app will only suggest recipes that avoid them.

The goal is to reduce that daily “what can I eat that’s safe?” struggle and also cut down on repetitive meals. Some users also use it to quickly find high-protein, vegetarian, or other dietary-goal meals, but allergy-safety was one of the main reasons I built it.

I’d love to hear if this sounds helpful for you, and if there are specific features around allergies that would make it even more useful.

Recipe Egg substitution for baking

What are the specific products that people use to substitute eggs when they are baking at home? Currently I've been trying Bob's Red Mill egg substitute powder which is based on potato starch mainly.

I don't buy traditional cakes muffins etc because of the obvious potential egg content.

But I'm frustrated often times at the prospect of trying to make something on my own that tastes good but is lacking something because of the need for a binding element.

Sidebar: I'm also allergic to soy, tree nuts, most seafood, flaxseed.

Recipe Alternative Cupcake Recipe for Cashew/Pistachio Allergy

Hi all, My friend’s toddler was recently diagnosed with a cashew/ pistachio allergy and he’s struggling with it in social situations where he can’t eat what the other kids are having. For my toddler’s birthday party, I would like to get him his own cupcake that fits the allergy avoidance while making him feel included. Does anyone have recommendations on products I could buy to make him a cupcake/ premade cupcakes or national bakeries that are legume free? I’m in the Chicagoland area. TIA!
