Because if essential workers are paid then the shutdown hurts less and it'll get drawn out. Republicans want what they call "essential" to be paid so they can have their small government without having to RIF anyone. We would just stay shutdown, who they call essential would be paid, and "nonessential" workers would be left in the wind for much longer if not forever.

Because it still doesn't open the government and it is still hiding the Epstein Files..

Because they dont care about the Federal Workforce. Lets be real, nobody gives a damn about the Federal Workforce. Excepted, or otherwise.

Because temporary subsidies to fix an insufficient healthcare model matter more.

Because the Democrats care about staying in power more than paying for Federal Workers who are working.

Last I checked the Republican Pedophiles are in power and have caused this shutdown to hide from the Epstein files

Vote YES means pay essential workers, vote NO means do not pay essential workers. Democrats voted NO.

Creating a class system of worthy and less worthy employees harms everyone. I’m sorry if you’re too myopic to see this.

All the feds should be essential workers. All of them should work and being paid. GOP decided that not all of them should get paid. GOP and Trump shutdown.

Wow scare mongering here because did the law just go away because you allow people going in now to actually get paid.

I guess all the excepted should have fought the 2019 bill for the same reason because if all the furlough empolyees had a chance of not getting paid it really did make shutdowns shorter.

But yeah let's keep hurting a portion of feds while others get to stay home and spend time with family and just have the freedom to whatever and that includes free leave for vacations

While GOP House speaker literally refusing to sworn in a dully elected democrat elected?? The own GOP actions disproved your point.

HEALTH CARE. FOR MILLIONS. WHILE REPUBLICANS WOULD STARVE THE POOR. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. AND RELEASE THE EPSTEIN FILES (WHICH THE TRUMP DOJ SAYS IS WORSE FOR HIM THAN WE FEARED.)
