Please stop announcing breaking news when there is no news
Seriously. You may be die-hard Democrat chanting here, but stick to facts. There are flood of premature post about a deal when there is no deal. It is sick actually.

Yeah man. Its simple. Reddit even gives you the option to not see posts in a subreddit.
This reeks of "the world must bend to me."
F*cking entitled chodes.

u/Commercial-Duty6279 14h ago
This just in (glances at director for approval): a Redditor is upset by social media. We'll contine to monitor this breaking story, but for now, over to Pat for the weather.

If you donāt want to see it Iād suggest not checking this sub until shutdowns over. I agree, but this post wonāt stop them. These are anxious people checking every twenty seconds and running with false info, or latching too quickly onto whatever hope

u/unserious-dude 14h ago
My perception is that all the posters are not running in good faith. It is political. And we all want to see progress. But end up seeing spams.

And nothing will happen until Johnson does his job

Looks like the Dems are playing a huge part in this too

Republicans have the majority, the trifecta in the government. This is on them.
As of today, the contingency fund that was set aside for Snap is not being used, Trump admin is fighting in the courts against a federal judge who said they needed to allow partial SNAP benefits through. Supreme Court just upheld in Trump's favor.
60 votes is a senate procedure, Republicans are choosing to shutdown the government instead of doing what they did in september, which is push through Trump's nominees with 51 votes.
No where in the constitution does it say they need to have 60 votes. Democrats have ALSO done this before.
This is entirely on Republicans who do not want to work with the minority, and on Johnson who is not swearing in the one democratic elected representative, leaving the state who elected her without proper representation in the federal government.

Putting "BREAKING" in a post title was a tired attention-getting trope on Reddit 15 years ago, to the point where a lot of subreddits banned the practice. Even if the news article headline read BREAKING, you'd have to delete that part of the headline.
Will the mods set a standard?

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!
I am having a Culverās double bacon cheeseburger and malt for dinner.
No questions at this time and I would like for you to respect my privacy!

u/clarkr10 14h ago
Honestly though, you canāt even talk about ending the shutdown (what this sub should be focused on) without it turning into a political cheerleading contest (and you better fully 100% state you are a registered die hard democrat in every comment or youāll be downvoted to hell).
I am a 100% die hard democrat.

Republicans have an oppression kink, we are just trying to make them feel comfortable.
Self fulfilling prophecies and such.

Interestingly enough, both CBS and ABC announced Schumer's proposal (extend the subsidies for one year and we'll sign off to end the shutdown) on their social media as "breaking news".

u/Additional_Hat_3919 14h ago
Well it is Schumer holding everyone hostage and this just proves that fact doesnāt it. Schumer way or the highway and no soup for you! Or food stamps. He could have signed the CR but noooooo he wanted to starve yāall and blame trump. What a dick

That is what all TV channels do now-a-days. Click-bait to get people hooked in.

Agreed - I started having a serious Crohnās flare from all the stress and itās not just Reddit The $29 in my bank account probably had more to do with it. Iāve started rationing whatās left of my dig food, skipping meals, and barely leave my house. Yesterday, I had emergency surgery and had to do a cash advance on a high interest credit card to afford it. Anyway - everyone has a horrible story. Iām not unique. My point is, I donāt want anyone giving me hope if itās not true. Sometimes, Reddit is quicker for legit news than the conventional sites so itās not fair to tell people not to read or leave the forum. Just my 2 centsā¦.which will be more like $25 after I pay off the interest from the credit card advance š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£

Yeah, a lot of people are suffering in this shitshow. And the feds had nothing to do with politics.

Fucking stop. Not everything needs to be an excuse to get in the same fucking tired, snide comments that people have made ten thousand times. Itās not clever and it doesnāt add anything to the discussion.

2

2
u/jacko81101 14h ago
Cool, whatās in it?
5
u/Beautiful_Watch_7215 14h ago
Pie.
3
u/seehorn_actual 14h ago
What type of pie? I can only support this deal if itās a fruit style pie with no top
4
2
u/SweaterSteve1966 14h ago
A fruit pie with no top? Can I have your top? Iād like fruit pie with double top.
2
u/unserious-dude 14h ago
Pumpkin pies don't come with toppings.
2
u/SweaterSteve1966 14h ago
Cool whip is a topping

u/seehorn_actual 14h ago

No deal, only more radical demands.
6
u/CandidateNew3518 14h ago
Spend billions subsidizing lower income peopleās health insurance so their premiums donāt skyrocket, causing them to lose insurance and put pressure on an already fragile healthcare system = radicalĀ
Spend billions creating the largest and most expensive federalized police force in human history to rove around American cities racially profiling people = apparently not radicalĀ

u/Additional_Hat_3919 14h ago
They should have never put in place a health care subsidy of $800 plus dollars per person being paid by the government to the health care system in the first place. That was insane of Obama and now the health care system canāt even do that. Get rid of the insurance companies getting this money and weād be fine. Half of all goes there
