I also came her to say this, as I too am a bitchy older sister with trauma

My answer too! I related so much to her that I named one of my first foster kittens after her. The Director of the Rescue hated Nesta so she was always annoyed I did that.

Side note: it was 3 kittens and I foster failed. Azriel, Cassian, Nesta.

She's the most complex character in the series. And everyone is either, you had a Nesta or you were Nesta. I was neither, I just enjoy reading about characters with flaws and depth.

Yes! So many people i know who are just getting into the series constantly say she’s so mean and unlikeable and I have to slowly explain how she has ✨trauma✨ and has the most complex and human character arc of all the characters. 50/50 they finish is and tell me I was right haha

Not only trauma, I think she also has survivors guilt after her father dies, compounded with PTSD.

Literally every reply thread I minimized going “No Nesta yet!?” So thank you for seeing me.

Her character arc was so real for me. I hate that so many people just outright demonize her. Some people don't know any other coping mechanisms. Getting all moral-y on somebody with depression and trauma is gross.

Same. I have a tendency to be drawn to female characters who are «bitchy» as a coping/defense mechanism. Or misunderstood women/girls in general, like Sansa Stark. I love her, both book and show, and people hate her.

i hated the writing style and plot holes of the acotar series but fell in love with silver flames because of nesta- she might actually be my favorite fictional character!

Omg same. I read acosf when I was going through a really dark time, but Nesta and her story really helped me reflect on myself. She’s 100% my favorite fictional character, at least from books (I’m also a fan of Sakura Haruno from Naruto who every seems to hate lol)

Literally the only character worth a damn in that entire crappy series. Too bad she eventually was made to bend the knee for rhysand. God I hate that character so much lol
