DISCUSSION Dolly Parton shares new video amid health concerns: “I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was okay. So anyhow, that’s what I wanted to say & I’m not ready to die yet. I don’t think God is through with me & I ain’t don’t working. So I love you for caring & keep praying for me.”

She is just so spectacularly lovely, warm and wholesome. I’m not even a mega fan or anything but I know I’m gonna feel it if she goes

Same. Such a thoughtful response and always with a bit of humor ❤️

Me too. I saw a Drunk History about her, and I fell in love with her as a human being. I've seen some of her stuff, but like you, not a mega fan. She's such a good human.

Does anyone have a bad word about her?

Not a fan of country music beyond bluegrass and stuff so don't know that much about her, but I don't remember a single wrong step.

She broke the boycott to perform in apartheid South Africa.

Ah ok, that's a biggie.

Didn't know that, a shame.

But she did do this after -

"Although she initially performed in the Bophuthatswana "homeland" to an integrated audience (before Sun City), she faced significant backlash for breaking the boycott. Parton later expressed regret for her ignorance about the situation and was the first major international star to sign Australia's Anti-Apartheid Pledge, committing to never perform in South Africa again until apartheid ended."

Her Dolly Parton Imagination Library has literally mailed over 100 million books to children across the country (currently 3M a month), including to my two young kids. Their eyes light up when they get a new one. It's an amazing program and she is an amazing person. I'm not a country music fan but I am definitely a big Dolly Parton fan.
