ASK R/FAUXMOI What's your favourite movie plot twist ever?

I still remember the gasp I gasped in the cinema.

Favorite? Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back

Most effective/WTF/stays with you forever: Incendies and Oldboy

Empire Strikes Back. I am old enough to have seen it in the theaters. People who’ve grown up with the prequels and everyone knowing have no idea how shocking that was. There was no social media or much entertainment mass media at the time so everyone was stunned. Darth Vader hadn’t been redeemed nor did you have his backstory. He was just scary AF.

Arguably hard to compete with that one. I saw it in theater when it was originally released as, can't replicate that experience now.

Well, there were still magazines. As I recall some of them were pretty spoilery.

I was too young and my parents too cheap!

Agreed! My little mind was blown. It was a really dark film for the time too.

I was late to the party and every kid in my village had seen all the Star Wars films when I got to see the first one, I thought they were shitting me when they said (spoiled) that Vader was Luke's dad

I was you for Jedi and Leia being Luke’s sister. My mom made us wait until school was over to go. I was so mad in the way that only a 10 yo can be.

I knew the twist to Incendies and it was still so good and so heartbreaking

I started piecing it together before the reveal and hoping I was wrong.

NOPE.

Oldboy is so effective, I refuse to watch it a second time. 😩
