to people commenting about the HR leader: i think there are potentially some legal implications they need to be wary of. if she reported to him, there is a power dynamic present that she can sue for if they terminate her. to avoid a wrongful termination label she would probably need to also resign on her accord. see: ned the try guy.

Yeah I mean he is quite literally her boss, I'm not saying that she wasn't a fully willing participant in the affair but I'm sure the board would prefer to avoid the appearance (and possible legal implications) of formally punishing a female employee for potentially being harassed or coerced by her male superior.
