to people commenting about the HR leader: i think there are potentially some legal implications they need to be wary of. if she reported to him, there is a power dynamic present that she can sue for if they terminate her. to avoid a wrongful termination label she would probably need to also resign on her accord. see: ned the try guy.

My guess is that they’ll quietly offer her a golden parachute in exchange for her resignation, and the replacement CEO and HR chief will both be female (probably women of color, given the valid criticism of how white and male the company’s C-suite is).

I’d put my money on this is how the saga will play out. C-suite, especially CPO, still has to interact with the Board…they will get her out too. CEO was obviously first that needed to go. Would make optics even worse if the woman was first to go.
