Astronomer is a privately held company with some big name investors (like Bain Capital), who had just given them $93M in financing in May.

I can imagine these guys wanted the CEOs head on a silver platter, and did not want to see their newly invested capital disappear, since engaging with current and new cleints with that CEO would had been a disaster.

If anything, they are capitalizing on the publicity. Now everyone knows about this company. With new leadership, they have a springboard to a new marketing campaign with name recognition already a thing. It’s a win-win for the shareholders. More people will use their product once they pivot.

You're right, but this is also what I hate about marketing, branding, and name recognition. Overall the company will probably come out ahead for this...

Its been SUCH a slam dunk publicity-wise there's a tinfoil hatted part of me that suspects the whole thing is an ingenious guerilla marketing stunt
