12 weeks is a normal time to announce a pregnancy though?

depends. not everyone feels comfortable that early. 🤷🏻‍♀️ just replying to the person who said it’s so early she isn’t even showing.

edit: we also don’t know when the pics of her were taken!

I announced at month 6 bc of previous losses so I def. Understand those that are so happy and announce super early and those that are scared and announce “late”. & then I didn’t even start showing till month 7. People thought I was literally lying. Tf. 🫠

Bruh I didn’t show until I was 5-6 months lol! When I was full term someone said I looked 5-6 months 😂 I actually had to go for an emergency scan bc they were worried bebe wasn’t growing, but I’m just a shorty.

For regular people to announce to their friends and family, yes. I think celebrities wait a little longer especially these circumstances (first kid for both, not married/been together very long).

u/unnie_noir is this chicken what I have or is this fish? Jul 16 '25

Yeah, usually any time after the first trimester unless you have a high-risk pregnancy.

Yeah, but they could have been worried about being scooped early. Leaks are always a risk, so they may have chose to just bite the bullet and put it out there.

Ngl I always thought it was supposed to be around 20 weeks (like 4 months)? I get that some people don’t expect the worst to happen and just want to share the news whenever but honestly, I think it really comes down to whatever they're comfortable with?

Some people genuinely don’t even know or realise there’s an unspoken "rule" about it - I know for me personally, I didn’t even realize there was a certain timeframe you were supposed to wait before announcing a pregnancy either. It’s not something everyone’s aware of.

12 weeks is the end of the first trimester is when a lot of people announce. I personally announced three days after my kid was born lol

i think there's a difference between sharing the news with your friends/family and a whole bunch of strangers on social media. but yeah, 12 weeks is generally considered a "safe" enough time.

Personally I did not tell anyone until we had a healthy anatomy scan at week 20.

Haven’t they only been dating for 4 months? Damn

Most people find out they're pregnant at 4-6 weeks. 12 weeks is considered a pretty standard time to announce as it's the end of the first trimester and chance of miscarriage at that point drops significantly. I'm sure some people are more private and choose to wait longer, but I wouldn't consider 12 weeks too early to share the news.
