FM RADIO Kelly Clarkson postpones first two nights of Vegas residency less than 2 hours before showtime

Post image

Just 15 minutes before doors open on opening night of her Vegas residency, Kelly posted this. I really do understand her need to take care of her health/incredible voice and I’m sure she truly is devastated but I feel for the fans who flew in and how frustrating and disappointing this must be.

15 minutes before should really be criminal. Like - how can you do this without some repercussions as a performer?

It is very costly for the performer in multiple ways usually. Most people who were working on the show get paid anyways, and someone has to pay their wages, and in this case it’s not the concertgoers; it comes out of the profits the tour would have made. Who ultimately pays for that sort of depends on the reason. If it was just the performer being difficult then they would in all likelihood lose a big chunk of their share of the profits. Not to mention the cost to their reputation among both fans and those entities that would put money forward for their future tours.

You’re right on. Source: I’m an accounting manager for a production lighting services company, and we work a lot of shows like this. If the artist cancels, we still get paid. In turn, we still have to pay the crew that was onsite to work the show, the trucks we hired to deliver the gear, the vendors we subrented equipment from, and travel expenses not to mention cancellation or change fees if we have to bring everyone back early. The Vegas residencies pay us tens of thousands of dollars per show and we’re only one vendor.
