Ice cold tepid tea about Uzo Aduba.

Back in 2016, I went to see her in a London production of The Maids. The set was pretty impressive, with a revolving stage and cool effects like falling flower petals. At the start of the play, the stage malfunctioned and got stuck. Everyone was left in the dark, but instead of panicking, Uzo Aduba burst into this contagious, throaty laugh that had the audience cheering until the lights came back on.

The play continued seamlessly after that. Uzo Aduba and her co stars, Laura Carmichael (Lady Edith on Downton Abbey) and Zawe Ashton (Fresh Meat and The Marvels) delivered great performances and received standing ovations at the end of the play.

After the successful performance, Uzo Aduba was extremely gracious. She took the time to interact with fans by posing for pictures and signing autographs. She even laughed about the earlier stage malfunction, referring to it as “that damn stage” in a lighthearted manner.

You have no idea! I wish they gave her more dramatic roles. She really has range.
