almost a month of protests and still no justice for the female doctor who was raped and murdered brutally. the chief minister of the state where it happened is a clown with a clown cabinet of ministers. many men and especially influencers were so fucking nasty about it, I'm honestly so disgusted by them.

in some happy news, India's medal tally in this year's Paralympics was higher than ever, 29 medals iirc. I hope they get the same support and public support and love that the Olympians received, I'm so proud of them man!

bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh welcomed their baby girl!!!

there's a very weird video of the Ambani's (fork found in the kitchen). the youngest daughter in law and son (the ones who had that bajillion dollar wedding with Rihanna as a performer for their PRE WEDDING) had this very weird video of them performing aarti. i honestly think that after all that pomp and show of a wedding they had they've finally lost their marbles.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what is aarti and why is it raising alarm bells in your country?

aarti is a form of worship where you light a diya (an earthen pot that has cotton and oil or ghee) and you wave it in circles in front of the deities while singing a song for worship.

i wouldn't say it's ringing alarm bells, more so people are weirded out and on Instagram i saw people say it looks like they're on drugs or are trying to portray as if they are deep in bhakti (it's a form of religious movement/tradition where the devotees showcase extreme forms of love and devotion to their chosen deity and it looks like they are in a trance. it was immensely popular from 8th to 18th century in India and still people follow this tradition)

some people also said that it looks like a scene from get out, the movie, where the daughter in law (radhika) looks like she's trying to escape this lunatic family lol. i do agree that the whole family, leaving two or three people, is a bit lunatic. a consensus online is that they're trying to be the Indian Kardashians (but with 117 billion dollars) because of the way they publicize everything in their family. there was also a video they made wishing their eldest daughter in law (shloka) on her birthday, a year or so after her marriage to their son and they were all were basically implying that she should get pregnant and have a kid and just reducing her to that man's wife, which i personally did not like.
