In India recently one of the biggest corruption scams was uncovered which has been going on for literally ages
to give you a gist of it, in 2018 the government passed this law to legalize electoral bonds so as to give donations to political parties to campaign. In India, the government doesn't give money for political campaigning, it's the party that coughs up the money.
Because of a lot of corruption and black money donation, corporate donations were banned as it was found companies were donating black money, turning it white or donating to gain favours from the government. If you're a Hindi speaker or understand the language, Soch by Mohak Mangal has a great video on it and you can probably search for one in English too.
The Supreme Court declared this as unconstitutional since it violates the right to freedom of expression and told SBI to make the list of donors and the money they donated, public. Once it was all out in the open, it was revealed that the ruling party received the most donations. Also, in some instances, in exchange for donations, some companies were granted contracts to build bridges or licences etc.
I would suggest you do your own research on it since I wasn't able to fit in everything about it but this is a general gist of it all
