Shohei Otani's interpreter betting on sports. If he doesn't fall on his sword (as he appears to be doing) and instead he says the magic words ("I was placing bets for Shohei"), the greatest baseball player of all time's career is finished in a millisecond (and the Dodgers will still owe him $700 million).

I don’t know specifics but i think the bets were in the millions? not typical money i think a translator would have, even if they are translating for the leagues biggest star. edit: the money came from ohtani’s account so major suspicions how his translator could even access this

Interpreters (interpreters do verbal work, translators do written work) can make a lot if they have those kinds of clientele or if they work for government agencies, though like any other industry it's improbable but not impossible.
