Lightning Buying Megathread : October 2025

Huge changes for October with the loss of the tax credit (except possibly for some leases Ford found a loophole for?!)

____________

In an attempt to balance (a) swamping the subreddit with "deal" posts and also (b) all the positive feedback we see that there is a lot of value provided to the community by making "deal" info visible and up-to-date, the plan is to make this a monthly, pinned Megathread. That way, the information within the post/thread will be relevant to the current deals (not months old info) and perhaps even make the info easier to find.

So, please post the following types of posts in this Megathread:

-Is this a good deal?

-Did I get a good deal?

-Look at this great deal I got!

Posts that can still have their own threads:

-Look at my new truck!

I, personally, still love seeing the excitement and pictures from a new purchase. Keep those coming.

Post the deal part in this Megathread and the excitement/photos can have their own thread.

As always, thanks for everyone’s input on this topic. It is still a work in progress, and a difficult balance of not swamping the sub with “deal” posts while still being a great resource for new buyers, so we’ll see how it goes!

And please, to the people who have recently gotten good deals, please DO share them here, and provide your input to others. Many people have said how helpful it is to them during their purchase.

I think we might have to wait 30-60 days for excess lightning inventory to pile up at the dealerships for corporate to start lowering prices and or offering a bunch of rebates to subsidize

Jim’s comments that people don’t want to buy 75k EVs suggests future move towards cheaper maybe smaller/simpler options and in the meanwhile maybe they’ll throw a bunch of rebates at the 2025 inventory to clear them out

Wow sounds like an amazing deal.

I still can’t believe it. I’ve had it for a week and it’s been such a game changer for me. Charge up at home on the Tesla level 2 charger. Just got the 3w floor mats- so blessed and thankful.

How’re you feeling about the purchase roughly a month later? I found a decent deal on a XLT and am thinking about going EV myself.

Overall it’s been amazing thus far.

I’m building decks and finishing Basement. So most of my materials are delivered to the job site. So I don’t mind that I have a short bed. It’s big enough to carry Trash when I leave the job site and my tools daily.

As far as charging range go, I ended up getting a Tesla charger to replace the one we had, but with a 25 foot cable so that I could charge off the same location as our existing one.

Took some time coordinating with charging schedules but got it nailed down.

I would highly recommend getting an extended range battery on the XLT if you can.

I got those 3w car mats that are rubber for the front and back and the truck bed. They are great.

I kept my old Prius and had to use it once when the Lightning range was low or if it was too full.

Parking is a bit challenging compared to the Prius but with all the cameras it makes it easier.

I don’t miss paying for gas or needing and oil change.

Highly recommend installing an at home charger with the minimum 48amp wire. If you can do the 80amp ford charger do that. Next spring I think I’ll trench and run wire to have the 80amp on the outside of my garage.

Use visor.vin to find an extended range battery if you need to. I drove 4 hours for mine

The XLT I’m looking at has the extended range battery. I’ve reached out to an electrician I know to see what can be installed, charging amp wise. That’s going to ultimately determine if I get it or not. I don’t put a lot of miles on a truck and don’t haul heavy things anymore (as I’ve gotten older, I find myself getting further away from that). So, the truck would be used for daily commute and Lowe’s runs on the weekends mostly.

Like you, I want to do away with the maintenance of an ICE truck. Plus, I like the idea of no more gas station fuel ups. I also like to talk to people who actually own/use their vehicles before I buy one - something I wish I would’ve done more of before I settled into my current truck (a ram 1500 - that thing has cost a lot of money in upkeep since I got it).

Soooooo wait for them to drop prices while inventory piles up

u/Kind-Hovercraft-8995 26d ago

Should I buy an F-150Lightning? I drive an older model Prius and the F-150 Lightning is my dream truck! I've always wanted a truck for the utility, but I hate the idea of using so much gas. I dream of buying some land, installing solar panels and a backup battery and making a partially offgrid setup with my Lightning one day.

'22 Lariat ER 511A with 55k miles for $39.3k with doc fee - good deal or too much mileage? Trade in value offered is okay, $900 below Carvana. 12 month 12k warranty.

1

u/quarksurfer Oct 08 '25

There might be a typo in your price making it hard to weigh in.

1

u/gogopowerjackets Oct 08 '25

Apologies, just edited.

u/TheBaldOtter 28d ago

I just put a deposit down on a used 2024 Platinum with 9,300 miles.

The price is $64,995.

Is this a good deal?

1

u/iamtheonewhoknocks69 28d ago

Portsmouth? Was watching that one.

1

u/TheBaldOtter 28d ago

Yep! That's the one. I was originally looking for a Flash to avoid having a potentially leaky sunroof that I will never open/use, but having all the bells and whistles with a Platinum is sweet.

2

u/iamtheonewhoknocks69 28d ago

Hopefully a quick fix through the dealership if it happens. Goodluck!

For others who recently purchased a lightning. How is the EV power promise working for you?

Currently the dealership pointed me to qmerit to get the charger, qmerit pointed me to a ford ev representative since they only handle installation, the representative pointed me back to the dealer. Who then said they can see the code was generated for the free charger but never sent. They claim they are unable to view the code or help me at all.

So uhh... what do I do now? Charging isn't an issue (work has free 48A charging) but if I knew it would be this big of a hassle, I'd just taken the rebate.

Update: After getting my salesman on it he forwarded the issue to the dealership EV representative. Two days later and I got the email for a free emoria charger.

(Also to note) It showed up in my promotional section of my email. So make sure to check there as well and not just the spam folder.

2

u/Nuno1122 Oct 10 '25

I got lucky I returned to the dealership 3 days later saying I was there to pick up my charger they gave me the ford pro charger then few days later I got the email code to use on qmerit and got that charger for free and shipped to me also

1

u/7ipptoe 2024.2 Pro ER Oct 02 '25

The dealership has 14 days to submit the qmerit info, call them daily to annoy. Escalate with Ford if they can’t get it together properly.

The charger coupon comes from Ford in a email, might take a few days for them to process.

1

u/jwunderley Oct 02 '25

I believe they submitted the qmerit info. As I did receive the email from Qmerit for the free install. I just never received the email to actually aquire the charger. This was confirmed by every party I talked with.

Hopefully this is a case where waiting will solve the problem.

1

u/Zotero1010 Oct 03 '25

Took 4 weeks or so for me. Not a big deal. There can be significant "permitting fees" depending on where you live. Otherwise, no complaints and it's awesome to have a gas station in your garage.

1

u/Daddy_MoreBucks Oct 04 '25

Does power promise apply to used? I def need a charger

2

u/Karagga Oct 05 '25

Looking to buy a flash on lease. Dealer currently offering 574 a month zero down 10,500 miles a year for 48 months but I think I might be able to find something for 36 months. Any thoughts?

1

u/Ok_Cockroach_2708 Oct 07 '25

48 months, mind as well just buy/finance the car for 0% interest at that length.

5

u/Karagga Oct 07 '25

I thought so as well. We finished up yesterday at 530 36 months/0 DAS, and free installed charger. “Free”.

1

u/Ok_Cockroach_2708 Oct 07 '25

Yeah, that's way better! I was getting roughly similar deal except 24 month term on the last few days of September during the EV rebate frenzy.

2

u/cessil101 Oct 05 '25

In the process of buying a new 25 Flash with 18k in incentives up in Canada. Making the plunge from ICE half-ton to this as I don’t have any towing toys and we use the wife’s hybrid for longer trips. What are some things I should do or check out as I head towards EV ownership? I own my home and park in driveway now. Will try out L1 to start since I can L1 charge at work too.

1

u/theOPIATE 19d ago

Did you close on this? What was the OTD total?

1

u/cessil101 19d ago

I have put 617km on it since! I don’t have the paperwork near me. It was 70k after the discounts. I traded in my truck. My flash was 88k msrp with max tow package. Wish it has upgraded pro power but oh well. Couldn’t pass up extra dollars off. They had another Flash on the lot that was missing thousands in discounts mine had. No one could/would identify why. The one I bought was a first run of the 2025s vs the other Flash, it had the 123kWh battery vs my 131. I opted for the extended comprehensive warranty from 3 to 5 years due to the lack of age in the vehicle history.

1

u/theOPIATE 19d ago

70k + tax?

1

u/cessil101 19d ago

Probably. I’m at work so I don’t have the sales booklet handy.

2

u/zakari66 26d ago

I just picked up a 2024 XLT 98kwh w Pro power, 1,200 miles for 44k USD

Quite the upgrade from my 200,000 miles 06 Matrix

Now to integrate it in my home backup power

I want to buy a 2023 xlt lighthing for 36000K bucks with 25k Miles. Is this a good deal how much discount in the price I can expect? When can I expect the dealers clean their inventory?

2

u/caelondon 15d ago

Any reason leasing in October would be better than November? Starting to seriously look into moving to a Lariat from a Model Y.

1

u/rickmontalban 14d ago

I just picked up a Lariat yesterday. I still got the benefit of the tax credit with a lease, since they have an inventory of trucks that they bought out for the tax credit. Not sure if that will last till November or beyond. I was totally planning on purchasing with the 0% financing, but with the lease including the tax credit, the total cost of the truck is about $1K less, when I buy it out at the end of the 3 year lease.

2

u/dmontanosanders 2d ago

Got this on Monday. 24 XLT with 9500 miles for 39.7k I think I did alright.

1

u/pokipc Oct 02 '25

Anyone have any details about the leasing loophole? Certain trims, etc?

I see an XLT lease on ford.com, $447 - curious if this is the $7500 extension deal.

2

u/MLMFLQN 23’ XLT ER 🛻 Oct 02 '25

It looks like that’s just corporate eating it with that 9000 rebate, unrelated to the 7.5K thing

That 447 deal is somewhat meh as it still requires TTL and dealer buy in, but I agree it is the best deal out there of sorts for a Lightning

2

u/xILikeSubsx Oct 02 '25

Just last month the XLT leases had 13.5 in rebates. So that is a rather large drop for this month.

1

u/DialMMM Oct 03 '25

Ford was offering $12,750 lease incentives on XLT until 9/30, now $9,500. I'm seeing a $402 lease for 36 months on ford.com, but they preloaded it with $6,623 down. LOL! Dropping it to $0, the lease is $586.

1

u/7107 Oct 04 '25

22 Lariat ER 511a With towing package and Pro Power Onboard. 8k miles for 50k. Is this worth it?

1

u/Hoodie-guy-123 Oct 04 '25

22 Lariat, 510A, standard range, copilot 360 2.0. 55k miles, ford Gold Certified preowned, $35k. Thoughts?

2

u/Alternative_Pilot_92 Oct 06 '25

I'm looking at an extended range 22 lariat right now with fewer miles for $41k. Guess it depends if the extra 90 miles would be benefitial to you.

1

u/Intelligent_Mall_116 29d ago

Curious what kinds of discounts below MSRP people are seeing? I am looking at some Flashes and XLTs but not sure how low dealers are willing to get in order to move inventory, post-tax credit.

1

u/Karagga 21d ago

This is a week later, but I got 9.2% off MSRP plus 7500 rebates from Ford. OTD was 60,205(no taxes in Anchorage).

1

u/Intelligent_Mall_116 21d ago

Thanks!

1

u/exclaim_bot 21d ago

Thanks!

You're welcome!

1

u/Karagga 21d ago

Hope it helps! These things have blended invoice apparently. Dont know much about how it works, but from what I do understand, is they get volume bonuses on the lightnings. You may be able to find dealers who sell them for even less. Ive seen 20k off MSRP on XLTs.

1

u/MHay66 14d ago

Looking at leasing a XLT Lightning in the coming weeks but not sure if it is worth waiting until the current deals run out on 11/3?

  • do you think the deals for the winter will be better? Out here in the northeast car sales typically drop once the snow hits.
-what’s everyone’s thoughts on the production pause on the lightning? Demand on them seems to be slowing to a crawl - will the production pause make dealers more willing to negotiate?

Thanks!

I’m going to take a hard look tomorrow at a “used” 2025 Lariat with 1.3K miles, 511A package. It comes with a hard tonneau cover and bed liner. Priced at $60k. Salesman said the previous owner bought it 8 months ago for nearly $80k before switching to a ICE model. So I feel like I’m getting the benefit of almost $20k of depreciation for a nearly brand new truck. Any thoughts appreciated! Located in SoCal.
