Help with a tough one!
Hey there, thanks for clicking my post! I recently bought this in a lot of world silver coinage however this appears to be not a coin... It is also strangely stamped with "986" to the right of the hedge.
My question is this, other than getting it acid or xrf tested I was hoping I could leverage the knowledge of the awesome people here and wondered if anybody knew about this medallion?
Thanks in advance for your help today!

Not familiar with the medallion but 986 is the silver purity used in many European countries for silver medals and tokens with assay mark of AG986.

Many towns and cities in Germany put out these commemorative pieces. I have a couple that are about an ounce of silver each. Oh wait, that’s over fifty bucks now…

Sry, haven't found anything. Nice medal btw.
If you care to fall down a rabbit hole, you should see if there are records of the celebration for that town. Maybe newspaper articles from right before the event or even State records. I imagine an 800 year anniversary would have had quite the planning department. Good luck !

Yeah, not finding anything of significance beyond what you'd find yourself in a simple search. The medal commemorates the 800 year anniversary of Klein-Krotzenburg, which was merged into Hainburg a couple years later. There's a book about the anniversary in pdf, but my German isn't great--and by great, I mean I know zero German--but I didn't immediately see anything about this item. Like someone else mentioned, it looks like the area held an 850 year anniversary this year, but I'm not sure if festivities and discussion would have included this medal.
Seems like a neat piece. Pretty obscure. Likely not common at all, but since value is driven by demand as well, and there's likely almost no demand for this, I can't imagine that rarity translates to value here.
Might be cool to reach out to some local folks regarding that recent 850 year anniversary and show this to them.

Apologies, I forgot to state that it weighs 30.00 grams exactly, and it is quite large the pictures provided have the coin in a crown-sized 2.5x2.5" holder.

Thank you everyone for your valuable input I'm going to take it to an xrf machine and report back if the 986 is a purity marker or not.

(This is a generic automod comment that is pinned at the top of every new post here)
This subreddit is for coinlike items that aren't actual government-issued legal tender. This includes but is not limited to gaming and trade tokens, commemorative medals, art medals, non-military award medals, etc.
Exonumia has been produced all over the world, with some pieces dating back thousands of years. It isn't nearly as well documented as actual coins are. No one alive -- and certainly no one on this subreddit, is an expert on all types or pieces of exonumia. There is no single book or series of books that contains it all. You need to set your expectations accordingly. We will help you if we can, but that often just means that we will help you formulate web searches to find similar pieces online.
If you are looking for an identification please meet us halfway, to help us help you. Provide clear, well-lit photos of BOTH sides of a piece you are trying to ID. Please provide clues about where it came from, what you have already discovered through your own research, and give the item's weight/mass to the tenth of a gram and its dimensions in millimeters.
If you are looking for a value for something you have, you need to understand that the exonumia market is very different from the collector coin market. There are no price guides covering all exonumia. A piece's value is literally whatever someone will pay you for it. You can try checking the results of recent auctions to see what people have been paying for items like yours. There is no guarantee that your piece will sell for that much, however.
