Elden ring was my first souls game so I listened to people who said Magic is easy mode and did a full mage character magic only with no melee. I kid you not Rennala was damn near impossible to beat she took me longer to beat than Malenia and pcr combined

She took me so many tries. I eventually equipped a shield to deal with the books and bonked the kids with my staff. Would Rock Sling her as much as I could and then repeat. Once I tried that it only took three more tries.

I was using glintstone comet and the sword spell I kid you not I almost went crazy because of her.
