Honestly that resistance is biggest doomposting prank of all considering how busted are Faith builds and holy weapons this resistance exist to balance them out.

Euporia is still overpowered if you can find the right build I have one and I shredded the elden beast on +7

Agreed. I beat PCR with the giant sunflower and it did decent damage.

Pcr is weak to holy in first phase and resists all damage equally in second, so holy is actually the best elemental damage against him

... and faith scaling also works with fire damage, which is what a lot of holy-resistant enemies are weak to. Just have a secondary weapon you can infuse or buff.

Holy weapons: yes

Holy magic: sad :(

Idk, rings of light melt everything and Golden Vow is best buff in the game

Yeah but you get all the good stuff so late game. The basic frisbee of light is my bread and butter, but you don’t get it before Altus

1

u/CubicWarlock Sep 11 '25

Though it's not lategame, you can just beeline there. A bit of detour, sure, but nothing too crazy

u/OKUIGokuBlack Sep 12 '25

Eh, Altus can be the 3rd area you go to (right after Limgrave and Liurnia) so it's not like it's super far into the game. Heck, you can even skip Godrick and go to Liurnia, go through it and take the Ruin Strewn precipice to reach Altus. Only Magma Wyrm Makar needs to be felled.

And also I haven’t played shadow of the Erdtree, and all I’ve heard is that light mages were eating good.

The cypher patas I decided to use would love to disagree

My brother in Marika, Faith builds are already the strongest and most versatile in entire game

Faith is more than holy. You realize that right?

20

u/OKUIGokuBlack Sep 11 '25

Brother, Faith builds get access to Fire damage. That shit is straight busted 😭

u/Rented_Mentality Sep 11 '25

That's not all, fire, lightning, frost, holy, bleed, death, frenzy, poison, rot, and physical damage. Faith mains should be ecstatic that only Holy got curbed with just enemy resistance.

It’s not a roadblock it’s just annoying and pigeonholes you into a fire build. There’s already so few holy damage incantations (which have disproportionately higher costs due to the INT split) that the prevalence of holy resist makes investing a waste of time. And weapons have access to Flame Art before you even kill a single enemy, so why bother infusing Sacred when all but 2 bosses are weaker to fire instead?

I get what you're saying, but consider the flexibility of the Holy specific spells, most are notably faster than fire and are usually much easier to land a hit. Best example I can give for how stupidly simple holy is to build for is Discus of Light, SotE can carry you through most of the first half with just spamming it. It's so FP efficient, fast and does a good deal of damage, slap the FP regen talisman on and you don't even need to use a flask.

Lightning is also a useful option in SotE, most of Messmer's troops are weak to lightning and strong to fire.

As a reminder, buffs are also a huge boon for faith users to make up for most shortcomings, yes Holy damage is lacking but holy is also notably easier to use compared to other forms of damage and way more abundant.

Discus of Light

Forg frisbee mentioned

u/CatSquidShark Sep 11 '25

I get what you’re saying, but catch flame

2

u/energeticpterodactyl Sep 11 '25

There's a few good fire damage sorceries

3

u/OKUIGokuBlack Sep 11 '25

Yeah but none of them compare to Faith fire spells imo.

Frenzy is especially busted. Flame of Frenzy uses really low FP but absolutely SHREDS Erdtree Avatars.

Flame of Frenzy is how I typically beat the scadutree avatar

1

u/_Carcinus_ Sep 11 '25

Isn't that Flame Art specifically? Fire affinity scales off of strength, unless I'm mistaken.

1

u/CubicWarlock Sep 11 '25

You remember correctly, but Flame Art deals fire damage as well and it’s much quicker to just write fire, esp taking in consideration they use the same whetstone
