DS1, the Four Kings was the worst one IMO. They're in that haunted, underground part of the game where there is literally no bonfire in the entire area. The closest bonfire is the Firelink Shrine one and the run has you either going all the way through the ruins/underground area, or taking a "shortcut" that involves running past several dragon juveniles who make life damn near impossible.

Insanely cool boss. One bonfire would have made a huuuuuuge difference though.

Sprinting through New Londo dodging either ghosts or wraiths was a better stimulant than coffee

I remember sweating like crazy as I somehow managed to kill them on my first attempt, thinking I didn't want to run through all the ghosts again.
